Okay, so perhaps I didn’t write as much over the weekend as I had planned.? Oh well.? My intentions were good, at least.
Okay, so where was I?
Ahh… Saturday.? Yes.
Okay, up early.? I got up before the alarm I set on my cell phone.? I set it for 7:00 and got up at 6:30.? I got straight into the shower.? I’d forgotten how strong their water pressure is there.? I could not face the water or there was going to be some BIG pain.? But at least it helped the shower move along quickly.? I couldn’t have been in there more htan 10 minutes.
Got ready, had some toast and such.? We left about 7:50 or so.? I let my sister in law drive our van.? I’m bad, I know.? I don’t think I drove once the whole weekend. ;)
We got there *just* in time.? My mother in law, other sister in law, Chris and my neice were there already.? My sister in law’s friend Pam showed up after we did.? We were the yellow group.
Our fist craft happened to be my favorite.? It was a “fencepost snowman”.? A piece of fencepost was cut in two pieces (one longer than the other).? We painted the longer piece with white wash and the smaller with black paint. Paint on eyes, nose, mouth and cheeks… glue a circle of stiff felt between the two pieces and tie a fleece scarf under the face and VOILA!? *CUTE*.? I sat with my other sister in law, mother in law, niece and Chris while we were doing this.
Next, we did “cinnamon garland”.? It’s sorta hard to explain and maybe my least favorite project of the day.? It’s made with rags and looks sorta sloppy if you ask me.
Before lunch, we had a “Preparing for the Holidays” workshop.? Kinda boring, actually.
Lunch was good.? Salad and backed potatoes with all the toppings.? And I was hungry by that point.? For desert we had backed apples and ice cream.? A very Fall-ish sort of lunch if you ask me.
I had a hard time during the program after lunch.? My neck really hurt for some reason and I was just really uncomfortable.
After, we had two more crafts, a “countdown slate” was first.? We took a framed mini-chalkboard and just decorated it.? You can hang it up and then countdown the days until Christmas on it.
The last craft was “paper quilting”.? Which was very fun.? You cut out pieces of a house out of different designed paper and glued them down.? Then you added “stiching” accents to the edges of each piece.? When all was said and one, we put it in a frame.? Pretty!? That’d be a good one to do for MOPS too.
At the closing, 4 of the 7 people at our table won door prizes. :O Including me! :eek I won a photo album/scrapbook.? That’ll be handy. ;)
My sister in law and I left pretty soon afterward.? I was beat and my back and neck were killing me. We stopped and got Papa Murphy’s pizza.? Who wants to cook??
Sunday was another big day.? Since it was H’s party day, we went ahead and acted like it was his actual birthday (even though a day early).? He didn’t know the difference.
K changed the plans for us the night before, so we went into town to go to church with his parents.? The service was okay, but again, I started to feel really uncomfortable.? Mostly low blood pressure when we had to stand.? Ugh.? I can’t get comfortable anywhere!!
After, we went to Raley’s so K could get stuff for lunch.? Back at the ranch (har!), my nephew wasn’t feeling well.? Not entirely a surprise.? He was laying on the floor, moaning… ugh.? Why my other sister in law didn’t just tuk him into his bed is beyond me.? I just could see his stomach problems (which are very valid) were going to cause a spot in the day.? And the selfish parent in me was annoyed because I wanted it all to be about H.
We had sandwiches and four bean soup for lunch, which was yummy.
My sister in law made H an awesome 3D teddy bear cake.? The look on his face when K brought it out was *priceless*.
And of course, there were presents.? He got a bowling set from my other sister in law, a book from grandma and grandpa, a snow tube from my brother and sister in law, and of course, the Nemo book and DVD from us, plus a GoBot.
After all that, he got a ride on the 4wheeler, which just topped off his day. :)? He had a great time, which is the important thing.? My brother and sister law took him home with them and he got to watch Nemo and then a bath and bed.? Good day for H.? And I can’t believe he’s four years old already!? Where does the time go?? It was just yesterday he was so tiny in my arms.
We took K’s parents for dinner at Cimarron.? I *kinda* wish we’d been able to go alone, but it *was* the best the solution.
We took them home and then went to the movie.? We saw the “Matrix Revolutions”.? Boy, was that something.? I liked it better than the second one, but it was just so complicated.? Really, it made the first one look simple. And it’s NOT.? Ah well.? We had a good time and that’s important.
We drove my niece’s friend home and she lives really close to my brother and sister in law.? Who knew?? We were pretty tired when we got there and everyone else was asleep.
Monday, my sister in law and I went to luncheon with my mother in law and other sister in law.? The food was *awesome*, no complaints here!? We were supposed to go shopping but ran out of time and had to head home.
That night, I took them all to dinner at Frannie Anns.? I’d been getting a lot of subscriptions, so I could afford it.? :)? And it was a nice way to say thanks for the hospitality.
After, we played Frontier 6.? It was my first time and I still beat everyone.? How’s that for sweet?!
We left a little later than we intended today.? We left Elko altogether about 1pm and got home at 5:00.? It felt like a really long day.? At least we have a few weeks before we have to go anywhere again.
It’s nearly 10:30 now.? I’ve been writing my buns off.? I’m really tired so I think it’s time to turn in, once and fo rall.? Until tomorrow!
This is me. I'm a thirtysomething stay at home mom to three kids. For years I was a stay at home mom to one kid and trying very hard to have more. It took a LONG time (ie: 6 1/2 years), but finally Liam arrived and charmed us with his blue eyes and ginormous, round head. Then we got a shock: I was pregnant again and this time it was a GIRL. Our hearts and home are full at last and now that we're done having babies, we get to relax (snort) and watch them grow (not too fast now, you hear?).
