Checking out MyYahoo headlines, I saw this little article: Yahoo! News - Protesters plan to turn their backs on Bush. Included in the story were several cases of plans for protesting Bush’s re-election during the inaugural parade.
There was a statistic that amused me, but that I don’t expect to hear via the traditional media outlets:
[Sgt. Scott Fear of the U.S. Park Police] said two of six protest permits went to groups supportive of Bush, the rest to opponents.
More people protesting than supporting. Where were these people on November 2nd?
The protest I like the idea the most is the “turn your back on Bush” protest. Silent, unobtrusive, but yet very potent statement of belief. This group wants it’s participants to remain calm, not bring any anti-Bush paraphanalia with them and not respond to antagonism from the Bush supporters. I, for one, would love to see this on the news. But I know I probably won’t. Damn, wish I could be there just so I could take part.
