Okay, I am currently in the “two week wait”, more commonly referred to as “waiting to find out if I’m pregnant.” While I wait for the day I can pull out my trusty pregnancy test and determine if it’s a :bfn or a :bfp, I am trying to ignore the fact that I’m in the two week wait at all.
Not an easy task. Those of you who have ever struggled to conceive know exactly what I’m talking about here. You find your eyes drifting towards the calender, ticking off the days. You find yourself prodding your own breasts (”Is that tender? Do they hurt more than usual?”) or trying to read into every mad dash to the bathroom or wave of nausea.
I, however, am over it. I’ve been and I’ve done that. Such obsessing can only serve to drive one crazy :nuts. So what do I do? I find other means to entertain myself in the meantime. I thrust myself into my design work, cruise the blog-scene, watch my Oprah and Dawson’s Creek…
Anything to avoid that big, fat, obnoxious elephant sitting RIGHT THERE. And sometimes, I can even fool myself into thinking I don’t notice him. That I’m too busy to see that he too is casting furtive glances at the calender.
This week is like any other week. Nothing to see here. Move along.
