Who visits this site? Part 2!

by Marilyn on April 1, 2005

It’s yet again time for another thrilling installment of callistawolf’s entirely boring blog stats! *roar of the crowd* I know you’ve all been waiting on the edge of your seats for this. :) Truthfully, this monthly accounting is probably more for me than anyone else. This way I have a record of visits, top referrers, searches, etc and so forth that I can look back at later and get misty about the “good old days.” March was a rather red-letter month for Inconceivable, so let’s have at it:

March(otherwise known as Hell Month)

Total Visits: 1,844
Daily Average: 83.84
Most Visits: 145 on March 17. Why? I have *no* idea.
Least Visits: 38 on March 6. Again, no clue.

Top 10 Referring Sites

  1. A Little Pregnant Mostly due to the post she did about that huge family that I also commented on. Even though that was like A MONTH ago, still my top referrer.
  2. Alex King’s site Due to my entry into the WordPress Theme Competition. Hello to everyone who came here, have a look around, make yourself comfy, check out lilacpixels.com!
  3. My Eggs Are Cooked I got links both from her WordPress site and her old Blogger address for the design I made her for the WP site. I’m just glad she likes it!
  4. WordPress Support Forums I’m assuming for various posts I’ve made there, people wanting to see who this crazy chick is. ;)
  5. Miss Zoot She made me a totally awesome design and then linked to it from her page. What a sweetie!
  6. BlogExplosion
  7. BlogClicker
  8. Bloglines I guess some people have my blog listed here. Which, AWW. :)
  9. Losing the Baby Wait Jamie is a truly amazing woman and such a sweety to link to my site. I hope the road she’s on leads her to a baby VERY SOON.
  10. Blab This is a private forum some friends of mine and I chat so I won’t link to it. These gals are some of the best friends I have right now and I’m so grateful for them!

And wasn’t I right last month when I said the number of visitors to my site would decrease when word got out that my blog templates are at another site? I must be psychic. ;)

Top Five Countries (minus Canada and US)

  1. European Union: 37 visits
  2. Austrailia: 98 visits
  3. Great Britian: 83 visits
  4. Mexico: 80 visits
  5. China: 55 visits

The Great Debate

  • MS Internet Explorer: 60.8%
  • Firefox: 29.6%
  • Others: 9.4%

I’m so ashamed… :mope

Competition over

by Marilyn on April 1, 2005

Alex King’s Theme Competition is now officially over and the prizes have been awarded (well, at least most of them). The big winners are all very nice themes and their creators should be very proud of themselves. And this competition has given the WordPress community so many designs to pick from, that is truly the most wonderful outcome.

Did my design win anythign? No… but I didn’t expect it to either. The other design I had entered was much more competitive, but we all know how that one turned out. I’m not disappointed, I didn’t expect to win anything and am simply glad that I contributed.

I do wish some different styles of design had been chosen for the big prizes. They all, while beautiful, resemble one another in style, shape and function and it would have been nice to see the judges thinking out of the box a little more on that one. Of the top three, I like the Red Train design the best. I’m a little surprised and disappointed to see Sharepoint Like won a prize for Most Versatile Design since it was based on the Simple Green design, which in my opinion, looks a heck of a lot better. And I know it was a Random Draw prize, but Greenwood… well, how do I put this tactfully? It isn’t the most attractive design. But then, they could benefit from the prize of a copy of The Zen of CSS Design. ;)

Overall, I’m glad it’s over. There are some good wins, and there are some designs I feel should have had some sort of recognition, such as Dixie Belle and Reflections. But once again, this is an issue where subjectivity reigns. Congrats to the winners and THANK YOU to everyone who entered.
