My first real salon-sanctioned haircut was yesterday and it was :fab. The salon I went to was in an old Victorian-style house near downtown and the first thing I noticed when I went inside was how *good* it smelled in there. No chemical odors at all. I also noticed how packed the place was, which I figure was a testiment to how good the stylists were. They seemed to be doing a pretty booming business.
My stylists name was Mara and she was great. Very friendly and definitely knew exactly what she was doing. She started off with a scalp massage which of course felt fantastic. Then, of course, a shampoo. She seemed to know exactly what I wanted without me having to say it. But I did anyhow, just to make sure we were clear.
I wanted something different with my bangs. I’ve essentially had the same hairstyle since I was five years old. It was time for a change. I also wanted the rest of my hair thinned out, and shortened to about shoulder length.
By the time Mara was finished, you could have made a carpet out of the hair all over the floor. I had no idea I had that much hair! But the cut looked fantastic. And the best part is its pretty easy to maintain. Very little product, I don’t have to do much blowdrying or anything like that. I can clip up the top portion easily (and stylishly) if I so desire. Before I left, I made sure to schedule my next apt in the middle of June for a maintenance visit. I may want to grow it out just a touch, but the look itself I love. Who knew?
I had to call K to come fetch me (he dropped me off) and while I was waiting, the makeup stylist offered a free “touch-up” of my makeup. Fabulous! She even wrote down what colors and everything she was using, in case I wanted to buy anything later on. So I walked out of there feeling :beautiful, which is rare for me! K was impressed too, though he admits he’s not used to seeing my hair look like this. But it’s a good thing.
I have finally entered the new millenium!
Anyhow, that’s the hair and the whole hair-story.
I can’t wait to show this off at MOPS on Wednesday.
In the meantime, we have some sod to put down in our backyard and a trip to Home Depot to make so I’d best get this stylish head of mine in the shower. Go me! ![]()
