It’s a boy!

by Marilyn on May 9, 2005

My sweet baby boyI just read Amy’s big news over on her blog and I’m so excited for her! :woot She has such joy in store for her and I’m so glad she was able to get an answer from the ultrasound (trust me, not all babies are that cooperative!).

This of course made me think of when I found out H was going to be a boy. I was so startled (because, for some inane reason, I’d been expecting a girl) and so charmed all at once. And he was PRECIOUS. Hell, he still is. That drew my eyes to this picture I have near my computer so I can gaze upon it whenever the mood strikes me. I love this picture (not so much myself in it, which is why I am cut out :lol), he looks so angelic and peaceful and content. That’s how I remember his babyhood. Pure heaven in a soft, little body. *happy sigh* I miss those days.

Not to say I don’t enjoy these days. It’s just different. But these days there are great benefits, such as being able to request he get me a Diet Rite out of the fridge so I don’t have to get up or getting the wonderfully beautiful, sappy and amazing card I got from him for Mother’s Day. Little dear made it himself and wrote “I love mom” and drew hearts all over it. I will treasure it ALWAYS.

He really is the sweetest little boy. In case I don’t say it enough, I want to get the word out now. I cherish every moment with this little guy because I’m all too aware the day will come very soon when he won’t need me so much. And that’s going to be so hard. But I will never stop telling him I love him. Even when he’s sixteen and in front of his friends. :)

Excuses, excuses

by Marilyn on May 9, 2005

So I keep saying how busy I am and all that. And I am busy, but its a poor excuse not to post. I shouldn’t complain though. I’ve been busy with various design jobs and I’d much rather be busy at that than have extra idle time on my hands. I’m also working on a free template in whatever spare time I have. It’s taking a long time, because I’m constantly interupted by other things. But I can promise you this, it looks fantastic and it’s almost done. :) Yay!

Saturday was fun… we went to this outdoor expo at the livestock events center. They had spas, four wheelers, motor homes, campers, etc and so forth. Basically, anything K likes to do outdoors they had at this thing. We had a blast going into the different motor homes and fifth wheels and checking them out. The big ones were really nice but we just weren’t sure they’d ever be our style. We found a style we really liked… it was a motor home, but more of a van/truck style than a bus. Smaller but had everything you’d need or want and was laid out really well. It was so much fun. :) After that we went and got some lunch at Taco Bell and I was reminded of why I love their tacos so very, very much. Then the boys dropped me off at Barnes and Noble while they did some Mother’s Day shopping. We finished off the day with a quick grocery stop and some hot chocolate at Starbucks. Honestly, that was the best Saturday I’ve had in a long time!

Mother’s Day was this past weekend. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there. :) I had a great day… it started with the Family Tradition of breakfast in bed. Our tulips out front were starting to bloom so K cut a few of them for me. So sweet! H got me some pink, dangly butterfly earrings which I’d been saying I wanted. He picked them out all by himself! I also got an awesome gel pen, which, anyone who knows me knows I have a thing for pens. :) And it’s purple too! Perfection. :) We also went to church, which was nice. I’m always glad when we go so I don’t know why we miss going all the time. I think part of that could be the drive down there. Everything is so far away from here! After that we got some lunch at Bully’s (lobster wrap! yummy!) and bummed around the mall a bit. For dinner last night, K made me saurkraut casserole (which he doesn’t like, so it was extra sweet that he made it) and we had “dump” cake for dessert. If you ask me, a really successful day all around. :)

So, it snowed here last night. :snow SNOW. :snow If I hadn’t lived here over ten years I might have been surprised. :dry Right now its windy as heck out there. Makes me really look forward to that t-ball game tonight. :-P They delayed their team pictures until tonight too. His game isn’t until six though. I’m sure that’ll make it nice and cold for the game. I better bundle up. It *is* MAY, isn’t it?

So the last two episodes of Dawson’s Creek were this morning. Thank GOD. I started watching back in January when I busted my ankle. It was only a few eps into Season 1 and I thought, “I’m going to watch it through until the series finale.” I’d never actually seen EVERY show, particularly in seasons 5 and 6. I thought it’d be fun to watch them all as they happened. :roll :doh What I didn’t count on were the horrible things the writers did to that show at different points during its tenure. Some portions were literally unbearable to watch. But I’m glad I did it. And I’m very glad its over. Silly as this will sound, now I won’t have to lie in bed for 1-2 hours each morning. ;) I’m really looking forward to getting out of bed tomorrow and going downstairs for breakfast with K and catching up on the world by watching the Today Show. Everything is getting back to normal, at last!

I’m going to try to be a better blogger this week. No guarantees, of course. ;) Maybe I’ll actually be able to blog about something other than television shows. Though considering Amazing Race finishes up this week and its another new episode of Lost, I wouldn’t count on it. ;)
