My Weekly Progress Report

by Marilyn on June 1, 2005

Welcome to another week in the life of the pregnancy of me. *whew* Hopefully, and God willing, there will be many more weeks to add to this report. The last week went pretty well, in my opinion. Here it is:

How far along am I?
6 weeks and four days. 4 weeks and four days from the gestational side of things (not counting if this was late implantation, which I highly suspect it was). Well into the second month here.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Still with the queasy stuff if I don’t keep food in my tummy (isn’t that ironic?). Thankfully, now I have a good stash of munchies to keep me satisfied. However, that pop tart I had a little while ago didn’t do much, I’m STILL starving. :blush
  • Still congested too. I’m getting rather used to it now.
  • Speaking of irony, even with the congested nose, I can smell EVERYTHING. We have some rose bushes out front that are being attacked by both aphids and powdery mildew. So I bought some spray that would eliminate both problems. I was spraying it on and had to hand it off to K because it STUNK like something dead. Of course, he then said he didn’t smell anything. I have a hard time believing that.
  • The trips to the bathroom are still pretty frequent. Of course, I’m upping my water intake so that probably has something to do with it. And there were a few nights where I had get up in the night. Yowza!
  • Still with the starving thing. Case in point: I had breakfast about 7am this morning. Cereal, toast and orange juice. About an hour or so ago I had a single frosted strawberry pop tart. I’m STARVING right now.
  • Cramps are pretty much gone.
  • Tight clothes. Yes, you heard it here first. I went to put on some denim capris on Sunday and they were hella tight. Now these were always pretty loose on me so this came as a shock. And so soon! I’m puffing out all over the place. Course, it could be the constant starving thing. ;)
  • Fatigue. Not as much as maybe it could be. But I know I could easily crawl into bed right now and fall asleep. And I’ve been sleeping like the dead at night. And waking up less than refreshed.

How much have I gained?
According to the bathroom scale 3 pounds! :blink I chose not to accept that, however, and will have to invest in a new scale. Because that’s just crazy talk. To be on the safe side, maybe I should hide the pop tarts.

Observations
Formerly “Gripes and Observations”. But I realized, there’s very little to really GRIPE about during pregnancy. After all, I well know how lucky I am to be pregnant right now and that is nothing to complain about!

  • So I did it. I told my parents. And K told his parents. And we told our neighbors. So much for not telling anyone until the second trimester, huh?
  • My second beta was GOOD. :) Well, not fabulous, not as high as I would have liked to see it. But 1786 is a perfectly respectable number.
  • I totally got the book I mentioned in my last report and I’m so glad. It’s a great book and I’m enjoying it. It is definitely reassuring to find out that the fears and worries I have are completely normal. And that it IS possible to have a sucessful subsequent pregnancy.
  • We’re going to need to get me a recliner. Or a glider. Something that rocks that isn’t made of solid wood. Yeah, good luck with that. :roll
  • I have a couple appointments lined up. One is June 9, with the RE’s office. It’s an ultrasound, but there’s that whole unpaid bill thing. :shifty I also have one for June 14 with my regular doctor. That may get moved up. I’ll probably get a u/s with them too. Anxious to ask some questions and get a good idea of how we’re going to handle this pregnancy!

And so finishes out another weekly progress report. :) Will I go see the RE and get shamed for the bill? Will I keep gaining until they have to remove me from the house with a crane? Only time will tell. Check back next week and see how it’s going.
