My Weekly Progress Report

by Marilyn on June 22, 2005

How far along am I?
9 weeks and four days. 7 weeks and four days gestational. I’m pretty sure I’m still in the second month though I’m on the cusp of month three. Time flies when you’re having fun, right? :P

Signs and Symptoms

  • Gnawing hunger. When I’m not eating, my tummy growls and rumbles. It seems like this is happening all the time. Fortunately, I don’t have time to just sit and eat all day so I’m not quite the size of a house yet. ;)
  • Still congested. Don’t know if I mentioned this before or not. I’ve gotten so used to it by now I hardly notice. But a day does not pass without some nasal congestion. Fun.
  • Running to the potty. Still doing that, though it does seem to have tapered off some and I don’t get up nearly as much at night as I was. Maybe my body has gotten used to me drinking all that water, finally. ;)
  • Sore boobies. No facing the spray in the shower for me. Sometimes more sensitive than other days, but for the most part, still pretty tender. Could be the progesterone though.
  • Heartburn. I’ve had a little of this already, not very severe and not very often. But I thought I’d mention it.
  • Puffy tummy. Pants are still tight but no tighter than they were last week.

How much have I gained?
Okay, I’m definitely down two pounds on my scale from where I was last week. Which is more in line with what I was expecting and makes me feel oodles better. That or the walks nearly every day are finally taking effect. :)

Observations

  • Still very nervous but trying very hard to remain positive and not to worry until there’s something to really worry about. Keeping pretty busy with the design thing so that’s helping me keep my mind focused.
  • K’s Father’s Day weekend was SO MUCH FUN. I wish we could have weekends like that all the time. And I hope that next year, we have an extra one to celebrate with us. :)
  • I do pretty good during the day as long as I take breaks when I feel I need them. Sometimes I nap, sometimes I read. Sometimes I just need to get away from the computer for a while and regroup my thoughts.
  • Really wishing that the hospitals here were as interested in pampering new mothers as the ones in the Bay Area apparently are. My mother sent me an article yesterday about how all these hospitals are offering manicures and fancy dinners and all that. I know there are only three hospitals here in town but darnit, they should be competing for my business! :) I want filet mignon the night before we go home!
  • Can’t help but notice being pregnant appears to be quite en vogue in Hollywood these days. Seems all the young stars are having babies. In fact, I know a lot of people that are pregnant, famous or not. I can name three of the top of my head who I know are due in September and three who are due in October. Its craziness, I tell ya! See, I’m just following the trends. ;)

And so ends another week. On to week ten!
