Oh, come on. You knew it was only a matter of time until I pounded out another entry about Halo. I mean, look who we’re talking about here!
So yeah, K and I have finished Halo 2. I was… surprised at the ending. For those of you who haven’t played the game and don’t want anything spoiled for you should you play it in the future, please stop reading. I don’t want hate mail about how I spoiled it all for you.
Okay, everyone who didn’t want anything spoiled should be gone now. I could have used spoiler tags, but where’s the fun in that? But now that we mention it, maybe I’ll put my thoughts under the “more” tag. So if you want to hear what I have to say, click the link.
Now we’re down to business. So the game is done and I totally wasn’t expecting it. Not that it hadn’t felt like we’d been playing the game forever and a day. Because it did seem like a longer game than the first Halo. It took us longer to finish, that’s for sure. But just when it felt like we were getting to the big climax, the game ended. Master Chief was hurtling towards earth aboard a Covenant ship. There was talk about activating all the rings of Halo and a thinly veiled hint that the place to do the activating was on earth. So while I was preparing for a big battle, the credits rolled.
At first, I went :wtf
But now I totally get it. After the first Halo, unless you were an industry insider it was probably pretty hard to tell if there’d be a sequel. Now, I’m pretty much guaranteed there’ll be a Halo 3. The sooner the better! That got me excited for it and of course I will want to be getting it the day its released. Because I have to see what happens next!
I really liked Halo 2. The graphics were great, the weapons and vehicle enhancements kicked ARSE and the story was awesome. Not that the story in the first one wasn’t fantastic, but this one was almost like watching a movie. K and I would raptly watch the cut-scene movies between levels, totally drawn into the story. And getting to play from the perspective of the Covenant Arbiter was awesome. K said he was probably the best character, and I might have to agree. I really enjoyed learning his story, gaining sympathy for him.
Now, we need to play it again, pick up the things and story pieces that we missed. I so cannot wait until Halo 3. Kick ass!
