You ever have one of those days, that moments after waking up, you know is going to be “one of those days”? It may not be anything big, but all sorts of *stuff* happened. Little things that rack up to help make that day extra special. That’s the sort of day I’m having.
First, K woke up late. I don’t know how, or why, because I slept like the dead until K popped out of bed at 7:30 and jumped in the shower. While I went back to sleep. Yeah, last night we had another bout with the champagne bottle. So I was having an especially difficult time prying my eyelids open. There was no time for proper breakfast, K had to be out the door no later than 8. As I don’t cherish eating alone, especially when I know I have work to do, I just sat at the ‘puter and got to work.
H slept late too, when he got up, he wanted something to eat. I noticed he was a bit on the touchy side too. I fixed him his breakfast and made myself some toast while I was at it. Of course, the toast burnt. Why wouldn’t it? It’s “one of those days”. The rest of the day pretty much followed suit. Little things that got under my skin. Getting absorbed with a project and realizing it’s too late to get a shower and get dressed in time to get H his lunch and get him to kindergarten. So, I’m a little extra stinky. A nagging headache that grows throughout the day, a not-so-gentle indication that maybe it’s time to knock off the thing with the champagne, if not the alcohol thing altogether. I’ll let you know how that one turns out. :dry
But for the most part, not an earth-shattering day. Just busy. As usual. What else is new? One of my rare moments of “me” time came while sitting outside the school waiting for H to be sprung. There’s one of those “half-circle” dealies where you pull in and pick up your kid. Primo-parking real estate. Which is why I leave at 2:55 to pick up a child who doesn’t get out until 3:20 and the school is like 2 minutes away. I generally park at the end of the circle, allowing me easy access to the street for a get-away. Why? Because it’s a mad-house. People park on both sides of the circle (including me :blush) and pretty much everyone drives some behemouth leaving this teeny, tiny gauntlet for people who parked at the end to drive through. Here’s a visual aid:
Virtually every car there is an SUV, except me in my Dodge Grand Caravan and that other minivan parked way at the other end of the circle. Poor bastard. What happened to the day of the station wagon? Why the hell does some 5′4 woman need to drive a monster like that thing directly behind my van? (She was itty, people! ITTY!) I just do not get it. Can anyone explain?

Yeah I can explain.. to keep her from getting squashed like a bug if anyone hits her
I’m sorry you had one of those just plain hassle days. Thankfully (for me anyway) those usually contain themselves to one 24 hour period at a time. *fingers crossed* that tomorrow is better for you
