Hop in the Wayback machine

by Marilyn on August 29, 2005

List the top 100 songs from the year that you graduated high school. (You can find lists at Music Outfitters.) Bold the ones you actually like. Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite. And strikethrough the ones you loathe. Italicize the ones you consider to be guilty pleasures. I’m going one step further and rating these soley on how I felt about them at the time, and not now. Thankfully, for the most part, my opinions remain the same. :)

Blog Geek + Pimp = Blog Pimp

by Marilyn on August 29, 2005

I'm so blogging this license plate frameI wanted to share with you all a little project I got SUCKED INTO this last weekend. I know Blogs-About hosting has a CafePress site with some goodies that say, “I am so blogging this” but, to be honest, they weren’t really to my taste. I wanted something a little more fun, a little more colorful. So I thought, I’ll make a couple of tshirts and a license plate frame or something.

WHAMO!

I'm going to rip you t-shirtBefore long it became mousepads and stickers and magnets… and it wasn’t just “I am so blogging this”, but other things as well! Plainly put, I just couldn’t stop. I kept having ideas, and with my PSP open RIGHT THERE, what was to stop me from making up just one more graphic, doing one more shirt? It’s insanity, people! (pst! I’m taking suggestions too, if you have any!)

I'm going to rip you t-shirtSo if you’re curious (and who wouldn’t be by now?) go have a look. Revel in my ultimate geekyness. I don’t expect anyone will want to actually buy this stuff other than me, because I am an enormous dork. And I desperately need to have that license plate frame.

Walk Rock

by Marilyn on August 29, 2005

A dog and her pink elepahntLast night on our nightly walk around the block, K saw a big black dog down the street some, wandering around the neighborhood. I told him to pick up our pint-sized mutt, Beetoe and I turned around to grab a couple of palm-sized river rocks from some landscaping nearby. We were afraid of this dog? Not really. What we were afraid of was the anti-social wonder currently nestled in K’s arms.

Normally, if we had been on this walk without Beetoe, we would have let the dog come up to us, given him some pets. He looked to be a black labrador, very friendly. His tale was wagging and his posture was very relaxed. But if he came close, he’d want to sniff her butt and then she would be starting something she couldn’t finish. We didn’t particularly care to be in the middle of that.

So we held onto our rocks, just in case (it never hurts to carry a walk rock anyhow, as not all the dogs in the neighborhood are friendly, there’s a high concentration of rottweilers and pitbulls). But we did tell the dog sternly as he loped towards us, “No!” “Go home!” It worked, though he followed us from across the street for a while, hoping for any sign of friendliness. Poor dog, I hope he found his way home.

The princess meanwhile, completed the walk unscathed and rewarded herself with a good knawing on her new pink elephant stuffed animal.
