Okay, tonight we went to see The Dukes of Hazzard movie at the theater near my in-law’s house. Annnnnd…. it didn’t suck. At least, not entirely.
It was funny. Really funny in parts, in fact. I *loved* the chase scene in Atlanta, where Bo Duke was going apeshit. That was hilarious. And Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott weren’t horrible (though I preferred Sean to Johnny). The guy they got to play Enos (sorry, folks, I’m not looking him up. Just too damned lazy) was spot on for the most part too. I didn’t hate Cooter, either, which is a surprise becuase I don’t like him at all on the tv show.
But there was more than a fair share of blasphemy as well. Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane were AWFUL. Particularly Roscoe. I didn’t like Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse either. Uncle Jesse is the patriarch, the lone voice of reason, the only figure of authority that the Duke boys will listen to (most of the time). And the part where the Duke boys had to restrain Uncle Jesse from violence? Absurd. I don’t like Jessica Simpson on principle so I’m not sure if she was a good Daisy Duke either. But I’m going to err on the side of caution and say she bit the big one too.
But, if you’re looking for some good, harmless fun, I can recommend this one. Couldn’t even *touch* the original series, but fun all the same. And the soundtrack (minus Jessica Simpson tunes) kicks ASS.
Gorgeous shot of some of the hills and mountains running parallel to Interstate 80 on the way from Reno to Elko.
