Am I selfish?

Wait…. don’t answer that.

I’ve just found out that we’re having company over Thanksgiving weekend. A little last minute, yes. Even more interesting? We’re not even going to BE HERE for Thanksgiving. We’re driving down to Sacramento to spend it with some of the people from my side of the family. A trip we could easily do within a day, but my parents who are driving as far as we are, are planning to get a motel room that night and talked us into doing the same. So we’ll stay over and come back Friday.

I was looking forward to Friday. A leisurely trip back, maybe some Christmas shopping, and setting up decorations around the house. It’s tradition!

Now, I find out that my plans are in the crapper. There was no invitation issued, simply a request to stay at our house. See, my SIL is coming to town with her two teenage boys and her boyfriend to spend time at her boyfriend’s family’s house for Thanksgiving. So why aren’t they staying with his family? Beats me. And they aren’t staying at a hotel because they said they’re all booked. Of course, I’m sure not all the hotels in town are booked. And also, this is what happens when you plan these things AT THE LAST MINUTE.

Is it wrong that I really would rather not host that weekend? They wanted to stay until Sunday (!), but I had to put my foot down. I’m not entirely comfortable with them being here while we’re gone, especially since I don’t really know SIL’s boyfriend and what I do know I don’t particularly care for. I’m just so UPSET that my weekend is ruined. I was already sorta annoyed we were going to Sacramento instead of staying home. I just want to hole up and be a recluse. I don’t want to have to clean the house for visitors.

ARGH. I’m just so mad about this. :-x
