Wow, three posts from me in one day?? Unheard of!? So I had an OB appointment today.? For the first time in, like FOREVER, I went in calm, cool, relaxed and even upbeat.? And it was one of those appointments I used to have way back in the olden days.? You know, before I was struck down by the fertility gods.? The weigh/pee/BP/small chat/listen to heartbeat/send you on your way sort of appointment.
Do you know how good that felt?
I did ask her about my headaches.? I’ve had quite a few the last week or so and they’re my typical nasty-style headache: resistant to Tylenol, sleep, massage, ANYTHING.? Anything but 800 mg of name-brand motrin, in fact.? She said that I can take the motrin up until 24 weeks, but to try to limit it and to try Tylenol first.? I got to put this advice to use this evening as I am DYING from sore muscles in my shoulders.? Why?? I think yesterday’s escapade with the new hotness may be to blame (I know what you’re going to say… but someone had to help poor K get the old one out and the new one in, upstairs I might add. I didn’t do much, hence my surprise at the soreness).? So far only the barest relief in my shoulders so I’m not too encouraged.
I also talked to her about the whole 37/38 week c-section deal.? Turns out, I may not have to have to have the amnio to deliver at 37 weeks.? She said between 35-37 weeks, sure. But nervous as I am, I doubt I’d want to go that early. SERIOUSLY doubt.? She’s going to talk to some of the other doctors in her practice and discuss with a couple perinatologists on what they think.? I’m thinking it sounds like we may be doing this c-section between 37 and 38 weeks, so that will definitely help put us at ease.? Combined with the frequent non-stress tests, hopefully the last month or so won’t be as much of a nailbiter as I’m expecting.
Anyhow, my next appointment is on March 13, and the one after that is April 13.? Sense a trend here?? Oh, and my BIG ULTRASOUND is March 6th.? WOOT!? So that’ll be fun.? Fingers crossed for a cooperative (and healthy) baby!
There has been an AWFUL lot of nastiness going around the blogosphere lately.? What the heck is up with that?? Most of it is women vs women.? Or fertile vs. unfertile.? However, I truly see it as popular vs. unpopular.? Whatever.
Does it really matter?? Why do people get their panties all bunched about how many adoring fans a particular blog has?? If it turns their stomachs that much, wouldn’t it be easier and less stressful to just… not read that blog?? No?? Is that asking too much?? I dont’ read a lot of blogs myself.? I do have some favorites (see “Daily Obsessions” over in the sidebar, those are the ones I read every day), and yes, I’m pretty loyal to them.? Some are “popular” and some are less so.? And if I comment (I’m REALLY bad about commenting, I lurk), yes, it will come across as “ass kissing” to some.? But I don’t really read blogs that there is something about that I HATE.? I mean, I just don’t have the time!? And if I did?? I’m sure I could find a half a million things I would be better off doing (such as another load of laundry!? Woot!).
I don’t know. I guess I just don’t get it.? Mean-spirited “blog awards”, anonymous comments trashing the blogger, private societies where women can trash on other women… I don’t see the point.? Wouldn’t it be better to just let things go, focus on the positive and try to live your life as a happy, well-adjusted person?
It’s sad.? It’s pathetic and it’s sad.
Yesterday, we finally bid adieu to “Old and Busted”.? Which was our dryer.? And folks, it was a train wreck.? We purchased this dryer off someone for the bargain price of $25 when we first moved into our rental house nearly four years ago.? It was old to begin with.? And never worked quite right, if the truth must be known.? It took at least two 90 minute dryer cycles to dry ANYTHING.? Maybe three if there were jeans involved. It was old, discolored and ugly.? I had two cycles and two temperatures. When the arrow on the knob where you set the cycle came loose and we were unable to tell which cycle we were on, let alone what point in the cycle, we knew we needed a new dryer.
The thing is: join the club.? There’s a ton of things we need to get, buy, pay for, do, etc.? We knew when the right dryer came along, we’d know it.? And you know what?? It came along.? Yesterday! :)? I had the brilliant idea to go look around Home Depot.? We were kicking around the idea of getting a new ceiling fan for the living room and moving the current one into the upstairs loft.? This would merely be a scouting trip.? We get there and on our way back to the lighting department, passed a row of appliances that were being clearanced.? I saw a stainless steel armoir-style fridge that was nearly half price simply because it wasn’t selling.? And that’s when I saw it (them).? Two identical dryers, claiming to be damaged (a quick look confirmed the smallest of dents on the back panel… big deal).? They were Maytag’s, fully featured.? 12 cycles, four temperatures, and features up the wazoo.? Originally?? $440.? Marked down to?? $115.? Oh yeah.? We had to get that dryer.
So we did!? On the way home, I said to K, “Happy Valentine’s Day!” and he repeated the same sentiment.? There goes any gift budget we might have had! But so worth it.? Because LOOK at all that room inside that dryer?? We could fit two cats, a dog AND a down comforter in there EASY.? And there’s a LIGHT in there.? And it WORKS.? So me?? I’ve been doing laundry all morning.? I’m a sucker for a new toy!
