Lousy Smarch Weather

You know that old episode of “The Simpsons”, the one Halloween episode with the Groundskeeper-Willy-As-Freddy-Krueger vignete?? And in the beginning Marge tells the kids they were at the school during the 13th hour, of the 13th day of the 13th month to discuss the calender misprints?? And it was all snowy and nasty outside and as they’re passing the calendar (which says Smarch) in question Homer says, “Lousy Smarch weather.”?? Well, we’ve sort of adopted that phrase lovingly around these parts these days.

Lousy Smarch WeatherWhere January was unseasonably warm and dry, and February more the norm, March has been a mess so far.? Snow, snow, snow… And ice.? And WIND.? Bleh.? I love stormy weather as much as the next girl, but all bets are off when the wind starts blowing.? And when I have to take my son to school in it. ? And ever since last year’s “incident” involving an icy driveway, I’m a lot more hesitant about heading out into the White. It wouldn’t be so bad if I could just hole up inside my house, bundle up in my fluffy robe and stay cozy and warm.

I suppose it’s too much to hope that all the snow will magically disappear in two hours.? Wish me (and my anti-lock brakes) luck!

I’m sending up some of our warm weather. We really didn’t have a winter this year.

[...] Yeah, we had another freakish snowstorm yesterday.? And because the gods are unkind, we had to venture forth yesterday evening, during the worst of the storm because I had a meeting to go to.? Of course, the roads were a freaking mess and where the dirt would have been most useful, the hill near our house, there was none.? The plows hadn’t gotten there yet.? It was a nailbiter.? Thankfully, we by the time we were coming home the dirt was all laid and doing its job, sorta, and the roads were mostly wet.? At least for the moment.? The PC term is “sand”, as in “sanding the roads”, but there isn’t a grain of sand in that crap.? It’s DIRT.? Sure, it doesn’t corrode our vehicles like salt does, but then, it doesn’t work as good either.? And the cars?? Get FILTHY.? Because once the roads are wet… it makes MUD. Which is of course then thrown up on your windshield and vehicle exterior.? And then after the snow is gone, there’s all this dry dirt laying in the road. And guess what happens when it rains? PEEVE PEEVE PEEVE! [...]
