Dog Alert

In the DoghouseYes, folks, that’s my son there in a doghouse. I’m so proud.

Seriously though, how silly can you get? We went over to a friend’s house last night for dinner. And we? Had a blast. :) I’m sure we kept them up far, far too late. I glanced at the clock and saw it was 10 o’clock so I’m sure we overstayed our welcome, but we had a great time.

And my friend? Is nuts. I mean that in the kindest way possible. :) She has wanted to have children since she was 15 years old. Seriously, I remember when we were teenagers we’d go to Toys R Us (there was no Babies R Us back in the dark ages, after all) and she would spend AGES just playing with the latches on the car seats and strollers. I’m not kidding at ALL here, people.

Kile and the baby PugSo it should be no surprise then that this gal has a LOT of pets. She has no baby yet (a surprise to all of us who knew her “when”) and she has to exert those instincts on something, right? She’s had a boatload of cats for awhile now. I think the current count is 5. Of course, you usually only see one, maybe two, when you go over to visit. It’s eerie. She also has two rabbits. One who is SO old that I swear, this rabbit defies the laws of nature. They also *had* two dogs. I say had, because we got there yesterday evening to see two more very small dogs out in the backyard. I said to her, “I hope those aren’t your dogs,” because it would be perfectly normal for her to have someone else’s dogs hanging out in her backyard. :dry But it seemed unfathomable to me that she would have MORE pets. Yeah, they’re hers. Two puppies that she had acquired very recently. Of course, she says she needs to give up one of them because even she realizes there are limits.

One was a pug, one was a beagle. Both? ADORABLE. Of course, we happen to be in the market for a puppy. I know, I know. We JUST got rid of the cats. But this was how we got Harry to give up his cat, by telling him he could get a puppy. Of course, I’m less confident about this development, but Kile promises it’ll be fine. Uh huh. Well, we’ll see. ANYHOW, you can see where this is going.

Silly boy?? Silly boy and the pug

Of course, nothing for sure, we don’t even know if they really want to give one of those darlings up.? But we’re thinking about it.? Each puppy has their strengths and weaknesses: the beagle is a female who is so mellow and sweet but does NOT like to be in her kennel and will NOT sleep through the night.? The pug is a male who is very well behaved, potty trained, doesn’t mind the crate, but get’s a little hyper and LOVES to chew on EVERYTHING.? So … that’s that.? If anyone has any puppy/beagle/pug related advice, by all means, let me know in the comments. :)? (’Cept, don’t tell me I’m stupid because I already know that one.)

Puppies at play???? Puppies sleeping (and snuggling)
