Some things stay the same

When he was tucked away in my uterus, Liam was a big-time hiccuper. Some days, that was nearly the only movement I’d feel from him. And some days I’d feel hiccups at least three times throughout the day, sometimes MORE. This kid? Was big with the hiccups.

So it should come as no surprise that he’s had a couple of hiccuping episodes now that he’s out here among the world. And I’m telling you? They are cute, cute, cute. In case you are interested, click the link below to see a little video that Kile took with our digital camera. Since it is a digital camera, it’s not the best quality but it’s not half bad either. And you’ll also notice that I didn’t realize until the clip was nearly over that Kile was in fact recording it. I think this was taken before we were moved out of the hideous “semi-private” room (judging by the hospital issue gown sleeve I caught sight of on my arm). Anyhow, prepare yourself for a toothache. Too dang sweet!

Liam’s Hiccups

In other news… we had some visitors tonight which was nice. It’s always nice to see people when you’re in the hospital and we had a good time showing off little Liam. Harry is growing more and more bonded to Liam every day and loves to hold him on his lap and feed him little bottles of expressed milk. Speaking of expressed milk; I got 35ml at my last pumping session an hour or so ago. If you don’t think that sounds impressive, compare that to the measely 5ml I got when I pumped just this morning. I think the milk is coming in!

Liam has been eating like a PRO, taking in around 30 ml per feeding and eating every two hours, if not sooner. Still working on the breastfeeding thing, I think he gets frustrated with the slowness of the milk. So we need to find some bottle nipples that are slower flow and once my milk comes it’ll flow faster so we’ll be able to meet halfway on that one.

He does have a touch of jaundice… more today than he had yesterday. We’re hoping it’s not too bad and won’t interfere with going home, but the jury remains out on that one. Keep your fingers crossed and prayers aloft for us on that one. :)

Well, Harry starts first grade tomorrow :eek and Kile is going to try to be there with him so that means he has to go to sleep which means I’m on “Liam Duty”. I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night (neurotic new mom) and I imagine it’ll be similar tonight. :lol But it’s all good.

It’s all VERY good.

When I was pregnant with Lauren she got the hiccups EVERY night between 7-8. Without fail. When she was born she did the same exact thing for a few weeks. Amazing isn’t it?

Congratulations on your arrival! He’s precious! I loved the video how he kept opening his eyes looking like, “Get that thing outta my face!” Very adorable. Thanks for sharing.

The video of the hiccups is just TOO adorable! Marilyn, he is so cute!! I’m so glad that you got a private room, that must be such a relief. And Harry starts 1st grade tomorrow? Whoa! Happy first day of school–what a show and tell he has ;)
