Loss for words

by Marilyn on October 5, 2006

So I spend a whole week without access to mindless blogging, internet surfing, actual honest-to-goodness design work and now that I have it back, I don’t know what to do with it.? Especially the mindless blogging part.? I swear, in the last week I had about a million ideas for fantastic blog posts.? I would compose them while taking showers, changing diapers, pumping… And now that I can actually write these posts, I can’t think of what I wanted to say.? Or, if I can, it doesn’t seem nearly as interesting as it did mere days before.? About the only thing I can think of to write about now is television.? Because, yes, it has been confirmed; I am a couch-potato.

I have so much TV to watch, I can barely keep up with it all.? I think Friday and Saturday may be the only days that my entire evening isn’t packed with shows.? I can’t remember the last time that was true.? A lot of the time, there are two shows on at the same time (such as Amazing Race on Sundays, which I have to DVR and House which was up against Lost last night).? So my DVR list grows and grows and I hardly have time to watch them!? A couple shows fell out of favor because I just had DVR burnout: Kidnapped and Six Degrees.? I just *couldn’t*.? And last night, I ended up having to DVR the premiere of The Nine because I was falling asleep during Lost.? LOST! I must be ill, I tell you.? So I haven’t even seen that one yet.? And I don’t think I’ll get to watch it tonight because there’s Ugly Betty/Grey’s Anatomy/ER. I still haven’t had a chance to finish Monday night’s Studio 60 because I had to tape the last half.? I was just SO tired.

So the moral of the story is: newborns and fascinating television do not mix very well.? But I’m trying to hold on.

In the meantime, my favorite of the new shows are: Heroes (omg, the Japanese guy is the BEST), Friday Night Lights, and Ugly Betty.? Favorite returning shows are: Amazing Race, Lost and House.? But seriously?? I have a lot of TV to watch.? And I’ve picked up daytime shows too!? Oh yes, my couch-potato-ness extends beyond prime-time people.? I’ve added (to Martha which I fell in love with over the summer and Oprah) Rachael Ray and The View.? Rachael is just so fun, and even though her show has some kinks to work out, it’s overall very entertaining.? And I used to be the sort that avoided The View like the plague, but I used to love Rosie’s show so I had to watch her back on daytime.? And so far, I’m enjoying it.? It’s a little catty, but not as bad as it was before.? Of course, the downside of this is now Meredith is on The Today Show and I don’t like that at ALL.? I guess you can’t win.

So yeah.? For not having anything to say, I sure had a lot to say, didn’t I?
