Party Hardy

Harrison's Party Today was party day for Harry. I’ve lived to speak of it, so that’s a good sign. Considering there wasn’t a whole lot of sleep last night for the aduts. Why? Because we have zero protection from wind out where we live and of COURSE all the nasty low fronts move in in the middle of the night. And they can’t move in without doing a hell of a lot of blowing. So yeah, sleep was hard to come by as I lay in bed wondering if there would be any siding, fencing and/or shingles left come morning. My favorite was the way the house would literally SHAKE when we got a particularly nasty gust. Fun times, ya’ll.

High Ballocity But Harry (and Liam) slept like the dead of course, and that’s what really mattered. The party was at this crazy place that all the (cool) kids have their parties at these days. It’s this giant entertainment complex with a water park (in the summer), a mini sprint car race track, roller coaster, mini golf, bowling… you name it. They have this indoor party area and this giant monstrosity called “High Ballocity” (see image at right). The kids all love it. And the place was jam packed today. Everybody and their brother was having a birthday party. And the weather outside was atrocious so it was a good bet for running off a kid’s energy. Harry had a pretty good turn out of kids. Not too many and not too few, just the perfect amount. And he had a great time. That’s what made it all worth it to me. The smile on his face and watching him struggle to decide what fun thing to do next: go into High Ballocity, play a video game with his game tokens, go in the Wind Machine for prizes, eat cake… the options were endless.

And now, he’s got an invitation to a sleepover tonight so he’ll be off doing that as well. If we had more $$ it’d be a great night to go catch a movie, but c’est la vie. We’ll find some way to entertain ourselves. In the meantime, it’s time to decompress from the wildy fun day we had. I *still* can’t believe the little guy is seven years old. It doesn’t seem real.
