Weather High, Weather Low

by Marilyn on November 13, 2006

I love the winter-time.? I’m not a big fan of hot weather so I’m always very glad to see the temperatures lower and the air turn crisp and I actually enjoy rain and snow.? What I do not enjoy, however, is wind.? Windstorms have long been my enemy, dating back to when I was a little girl and we’d go on road trips back east to visit family.? Being that it was summertime and we were in places like Michigan, Indiana, Ohio… there was invariably some sort of tornado warning/watch/catastrophe when we were there.? And these damned things just scarred me for life.

As an adult (a rational adult, thankyouverymuch), I still am not a fan.? Mostly because I am a property-owning, little-money-having-for-repairs adult.? So when I hear the wind kick up I can’t help but picture what it’s doing to my fence or my shingles or whathaveyou.? So I mentioned back on Saturday about a nasty wind storm we’d had the night before.? We’ve had wind on and off for the last day or two as well.? And all I can say? Is BAH.? I’m done with it!? Mercifully, last night I slept through whatever bad wind we had.? I think it was because I was just pain, dog tired by that point.

They were going to give us another wind warning for tonight.? As Kile put it, it was like “35 mph sustained winds with gusts to 70-80 mph…..make sure you secure all pets and small children…..GOD HELP US ALL.”? But as the storm (finally) moved in this afternoon they changed it to “Meh! It may be a bit breezy.”? Which, let me tell you, makes me feel SO much better.? Because I can watch “Heroes” in peace tonight and not have to worry one bit about laying in bed and imagining which yard implement has flown five houses down never to be seen again.
