I can’t really think of a better title than that right now. I loves mahself some Friday, don’t you? It holds the promise of the weekend ahead of you. Of sleeping in (regardless of the reality of getting said sleep). Of pancake breakfasts. Of watching movies and eating out and having a good time. Plus, it’s Super Bowl weekend, so there’s that as well. We’re not football fans but I think we’ll be watching it anyhow. Hopefully with plenty of chips, dip and beer to go with it. And yes, that’s beer in front of the children. Feel like calling CPS, anyone? Oh, that’s right, my husband will be there so its okay. Nevermind then.
Anyhow, today saw the rather tardy appearance of Liam’s six month doctor checkup. You know since he’s less than a week away from turning seven months old, now is as good a time as any, I suppose. He only got one shot today, the all in one DTap-HepB-IPV monster since they were out of the other one. The nurse said they’d get that one at his nine month appointment. Lucky him! But can you believe the kid didn’t even cry? Not even at the one shot right in his juiciest of juicy thighs? He gave us a “what the hell are you doing??” look but that was the extent of it. Even the nurse was impressed.
My little champ is right on track. I knew he was smaller than Harry was at the same age and this appointment confimed it. Here are the basic stats:
Length: 26 1/2 inches (50th%ile)
Weight: 19lbs 8oz (75th%ile)
Head: 45 cm (75th%ile)
So, while a little on the shorter side (believe it or not, Harry was too and nowadays all anyone can talk about is how tall he is so I don’t put a whole lot of stock in that one), he’s doing well in weight there (and his head ain’t anything to sneeze at either). Also? He’s cute as a bugs ear. But we knew that already.
I tried him in the saucer a little while ago and he just cried pitiously the minute I put him in it. So the leg is mighty sore this time around. It’s a shame because he loves himself some saucer time. We’ll have to find some other way to get in some quality time with the toys.
The high chair might be a good replacement for the time being since we can snap on toys from the saucer there and he loves being able to watch while we make dinner and putter around the kitchen. And how can we forget the pack n play and it’s piles of blocks, sorting toys and musical trains? Who wouldn’t love to play with THAT??
Can you believe he’s almost seven months old already? I can’t either.
