We are, right this minute, putting into action plans to get a new puppy. For what it’s worth, we promised Harry a puppy of his own ever since we gave up the cats last summer. We’ve just been putting it off. Until after the baby is born. Until after our trip to San Jose for BlogHer. Until someone puts some rat terriers up for sale. Until after Christmastime. Now, at last, we’ve found our pup. And? She’s mighty cute.
This puppy is in Elko. My mother in law is going to go pay for her tomorrow for us and I’m pretty sure she’ll bring her to Winnemucca for us this weekend. We’re meeting them there to give them Harry. He’s going to spend the week there next week, since he’s on break from school. But we have no name for her. And, I’m sorry, but I’ve already named a HUMAN BEING this year, I’m not naming a dog too. That’s your job, Internets. I’ve got five names here for you to pick from. The winning name is the dog’s name. Sound like a deal? Don’t let me down!

To answer a few questions that J asked… yes, it’s another rat terrier like Beetoe. She’s just over two months old, was born December 2.
Kile’s mom picked her up this morning and apparently there’ve already been several offers to take her off our hands should we decide we don’t want her. Apparently, she’s quite the cutie pie. She’s really tiny (smaller than the pic would have you believe), very active and has already peed on her carpet once and even threw up in the car on the way to her house. Woo hoo! Ya’ll are cracking me up, voting for Chocolate and Poptart. According my mother in law, she is NOT a Chocolate. Maybe on the Poptart. She seemed to think Cora would be a good name. So there you have it. It looks like we’ll have a new puppy come Saturday. *gulp* Hold me.
In completely unrelated but no less cool news: The Flicker Photo Gallery plugin has been updated to use in WordPress 2.1 and I’m very excited to have my fabulously awesome photo toolbar back on my post page. Anyhow. Moving on…
So for being a “mommy blog” I sure don’t gush about my kids that much. I mean, I do from time to time, but compared to some of the mommy blogs out there, I think I’m pretty restrained. But here is one post where I am going to gush. So, you know, you’ve been warned.
Liam is seven months old tomorrow. SEVEN. This is not acceptable. While I love seeing him get bigger and exploring his world and babbling joyfully at us each night at dinner, part of me is PANICING because it’s only a matter of time before he’s not a baby anymore and then what’ll I do? I’m not ready to say good-bye to baby-dom yet. I love newborns. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Babies are awesome. This may be my most favorite of all the stages and it’s slipping through my hands like sand at the beach. I can’t stand that.
The doctor gave the go-ahead at the appointment on Friday for us to start giving him some finger foods (even though the child is STILL sans teeth) and maybe trying out a sippy cup with water in it. So on Saturday, we got some Cheerios and a couple sippy cups. And I was charmed and horrified all at the same time. I love watching the milestones but it means he’s getting older and that, as we know, is killing me.
The First of the Sippys and the Excitement of the Cheerios
The first picture I snapped in Wal-Mart with my camera phone. Because in this mobile age I could not wait until we got home to take the sippy cup out of its wrapping, put some milk in it, give it to my child, and take a picture. At least I waited until home for the Cheerios. And he’s very excited about them too. He looks very confused and possibly disgusted when we put them in his mouth (hasn’t worked out putting them in his own mouth yet) but yet he gums them and seems to enjoy the taste and experience overall. I’m excited for the finger food stage, but… Yeah, you get the picture by now.
