How TV is trying to kill me

by Marilyn on March 5, 2007

Why do I even *watch* these shows? I mean, seriously! It seems “Desperate Housewives” is taking Sunday’s off left and right and now I find out tonight that “Heroes” won’t be returning until APRIL 23rd. That’s just not right, people. Especially when it left off the way it did with more than a few of our favorites in certain mortal peril. You don’t just do that to someone. It’s bad enough we have to suffer through the summer hiatus with little more than “Big Brother” to whet our appetites. But to force us to suffer through these insanely long hiatuses (hiatusi?) is just cruel and unusual. I shouldn’t complain too much. I still have “24″ I can watch on Monday nights (speaking of, I need to get to watching that since I have it DVR’d). Unless, of course, it too is going on hiatus in which case I may just give up and go bury myself in a mountain of gin and chocolate until all is right in the TV world again.

But yeah. “Heroes” was good tonight. A little *too* good. I’ve gotten so used to “Lost”, that I just expect a show like that to string me along for weeks on end (years, at this point). I’m not accustomed to a tv show answering questions and shocking me at every commercial break. It’s just a little too much for my fragile brain and emotional system to handle. I believe I swore out loud (and by swore, I mean I used the baddest of bad words) at least twice during the show. If that’s any indication of how good an episode it was (and I think it is), then that ought to tell you something right there.

But I’m not happy about this April 23rd nonsense. Grr!

I am soooo with you on that, first the Christmas break and now this. When the execs have a top show, do they think this makes for a happy fanbase?! I guess they know they have us hooked. Up until this season of Lost my Hub and I watched the prior seasons back to back on DVDs, all within a 3 week time period - that was the best way to watch them. Now I wish I waited until the whole stinkin’ teeth-pulling series had been over and I could have watched them in one long marathon of angst and suspense. The withdrawals would have been earthquaking though.
