From Bad to Worse

 Sick Baby

So remember when I mentioned yesterday that Liam wasn’t feeling well?  Yeah, I so wish the issue of moving him into his crib was the biggest thing going on with him right now.  His “not feeling well” has devolved directly into “sick baby” mode.  Ever since he got that danged RSV in December, he’s just been so susceptible to these things.  So when Harry brought home that cold last week I lived in fear of Liam getting it.  And get it he did.  A quick call to the pediatrician last night assured us we could give him some infants cold medicine to help him with his cough and congestion.  And not a moment too soon.

Last night was AWFUL.  Thankfully, I was able to hold onto my sanity somehow (maybe God is answering those prayers of frantic mothers after all) and just try to tend to him as best I could all night long.  But he was miserable.  The moaning got to Kile, he didn’t have the patience I had and at one point moved into another room to sleep.  I got up close to 9am (and don’t think this indicates that I was actually sleeping all that time because I so was NOT) and Liam made it apparent that he didn’t want to be put down anywhere.  So I held him, rocked him, cuddled him until he fell asleep.  It was about 10 by then, and I was desperately late for both my morning pump session and for writing my 451Press posts.  I chanced laying him down in bed, which worked just long enough for me to pump and get a post up on the Watching Reality TV blog.  And then he woke up so I was back “on duty”.  It was about 11am when Kile finally got up, bless his heart.

It’s nearly 3 now, Liam is just getting up from another nap.  His cough sounds horrible and his red, watery eyes just kill me.  I hate seeing a baby so sick.  I hope he’s feeling better very soon.  In the meantime, he can be as clingy as he wants to be.  It’s my pleasure to hold him and kiss his head and tell him it’ll all be better soon.
