It’s a good thing I’m not home much anymore or I’d be pretty ticked off

by Marilyn on May 10, 2007

So this morning, I roll out of bed, stumble downstairs and prepare to put in my obligatory 451Press posts. I fire up the laptop only to see… nothing. Hmm, that’s interesting. I hit the power button to force a restart. Then? It happened. THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Remember on Rockstar Mommy the other day when she talked about Dell and her own blue screen of death? Yeah, it looked EXACTLY like that. I mean, EXACTLY. And that was when I knew I was in deep doo-doo.

I handed the laptop to Kile who proceeded to shut it down and restart it several times before realizing that, hey, my wife is right! This here thing ain’t working a lick! So he took it to work with him to fiddle with it some more. But, he imagined it might need a new hard drive.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes. I called him later on today and confirmed it: a new hard drive is needed. He put in the request with Dell (dude, I’m so not holding my breath on that one). I asked him the million dollar question: “Will I be able to get some files off the old hard drive??” The answer: “Maybe.”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sob*

Besides all my client files and istockphoto images, I also have all our videos of Liam and pretty much every digital photo I’ve ever taken on that hard drive. If I can’t get those files off there, I may just puke because that’s a tragedy right there.

Right now, I’m tapping this out on Kile’s laptop which is a fraction the size of mine so I feel like I’m trying to type on a toy or something. He loves the puny size, I am annoyed by it. But not annoyed enough to hoof it upstairs and fire up the desktop. I imagine we might have a problem come this weekend when both of us are home and want to play Runescape. And I have a feeling I may be SOL.

*sigh*

I dated a guy who was in a band called Blue Screen of Death. Yeah, he was a techie nerd consultant from Price Waterhouse and his bandmates were co-workers.
