I wish I were camping

Posted on May 26th, 2007

We’re home this weekend.  Why?  We’re too broke to do anything fun.  Bah!  I had this insane urge on Thursday to go camping this weekend.  But there was no way we were going to actually get to do that.  Because camping actually costs money (albeit a small amount) and we don’t have anything remotely resembling money around here at the moment.  (I tell ya, Kile only getting paid once a month really sucks the big one.)  But camping might have been fun.  Or at least I like to tell myself that.  The reality might have been a little different, of course, considering we have a baby and two ornery dogs and our camping gear is out of practice and suspect at best.  But still.

So we’re sticking around the house and haven’t even left the homestead today.  I did, I’ll have you know, mow the lawn this afternoon.  Oh, yeah!  Kile showed me how to use the lawnmower last weekend.  Before then, I’d never used a mower in my life.  Our grass is still pretty funky looking, but at least it’s trimmed nice and short.  And now that we can actually run the sprinklers again (long story which I won’t bore you with), it should green up more soon.  Kile attacked portions of Harry’s bedroom with a large garbage bag.  He gets big points for bravery on that one, because I’m not even sure I could manage that task.  I might find Jimmy Hoffa’s corpse in there (from the smell, there’s gotta be someone’s corpse in there).

We may leave the house tomorrow, though only briefly and only for church.  God, when did we get to be such nerds?  I hope everyone else has some fun Memorial Day plans, even if it is just grilling up some steaks on the barbecue (no steaks here, nor do we have propane yet for the barbecue, so no grilling for us) .  Gosh, I’m just a barrel of sunshine, aren’t I?  Don’t mind me, you just go have fun without me.

Go on, get.
