I interupt this Potter broadcast…

by Marilyn on July 21, 2007

I just finished chapter 11 and Kile is having his turn with the book.  Will record next podcast tomorrow, when I get time.  I think we need to do “that church thing” tomorrow, ya know. ;)  Anyhow, felt I had to post to bitch about my neighbors.  They just this minute turned off their music next door.  And it’s, oh, 11:14pm.  They’ve been having a party out there all afternoon and evening complete with live music.  And they don’t just do live music but they use a sound system so it’s EXTRA LOUD.  Fun!  And then they talk over the sound system so it’s EXTRA LOUD TALKING TOO!  Which is what they’re doing right now.  I can also hear kids yelling and laughing and I KNOW it’s way past their bedtimes.  GRR.

Should I even mention that they’ve had one dingus or another parked halfway over the entrance to our driveway all day?  Or that children have literally ridden their bikes through our front yard, across the grass and everything?  Or that their little chihuahuas have gotten out and I’ve actually watched them take dumps in our yard?

GRR!!!  This is UNACCEPTABLE.  I was pissed about the music an hour ago, but Kile was reluctant to phone in a noise complaint.  If I only had a backbone…

Harry Potter Book 7 Podcast Part 1

by Marilyn on July 21, 2007

Whew! Okay, so my book FINALLY came at close to 4pm this afternoon. FOUR PM! That’s legally considered torture in most places, isn’t it? Apparently Amazon used UPS to send it to the local post office and then the post office sent it to us. But we don’t get our mail directly to our door here, it comes to a clutch of mailboxes down around the corner. BAH! So Kile went to go check if it came in the mail (they were actually still delivering the mail when he got there) and it was there. So he got his hands on it first, but being a gentleman, let me have first crack at it. AWW. The first five chapters took me a little over an hour to read. LOL! It goes quick. Anyhow, I’m doing a podcast like Zoot is doing because I thought it was such a good idea. And while I’m doing this, Kile is having his turn with the book so it works out perfectly. BEWARE! If you haven’t read the book yet or haven’t read through the end of chapter five yet that this podcast includes some BIG spoilers so listen at your own risk. I’m also leaving comments open for anyone who wants to discuss those chapters (AND ONLY THOSE CHAPTERS, PLEASE!) after listening to be forewarned not to click through to the comments either, mkay? Alright, on with the show!

The Awful, Awful Wait

by Marilyn on July 21, 2007

So my book hasn’t been delivered yet.  It is 10:08am and this waiting shit is for the birds.  I’ve been up since 7:30 and every minute is agony.  There was the grand fake out when Kile opened the door to look in the porch, in case it had been delivered behind our back.  And you know what?  There was a package sitting there.  For an awful instant, I thought Kile had beat me to the book.  Then we realized the package was something else altogether and had most likely been delivered yesterday while I was gone all day.  Dangit.

Then, a few moments ago, I went upstairs to fetch Liam from his nap.  While I was grabbing him out of the crib, the doorbell rang.  I literally shouted out, “Son of a bitch!”  As I came downstairs with Liam on my hip, I saw Kile standing by the front door.  “What are you waiting for?” I asked, “Answer it!”  He started to laugh.  The jerk had waited until I got upstairs and then rang the doorbell himself.  There is a special spot in hell for people who pull such a prank, don’t you think?

I’ve seen various news headlines on my Google homepage saying things like “A Fitting Finale for Potter”.  I, of course, will not click on them.  I resolve to stay unspoiled.  However, at the moment I’m watching “Office Space” on E! and you know them with their little news tickers at the bottom of the screen.  I’m just trying to ignore it the best I can.  So far, so good.

I was talking to my mom on the phone this morning and told her we were waiting for our book to come.  I also told her that Kile and I were going to be fighting to see who got to read it first.  She asked, “Why not let Harry read it first?”  I just laughed.  Because, seriously?  She then told me that I was mean.  Maybe so, but he’s not reading Harry Potter before me, that’s for sure.

God, I just hope my book is here soon.  And that Kile is in the bathroom when it finally comes.
