Random bits of knowledge from San Jose

by Marilyn on August 7, 2007

I just got back home last night at 11pm and am still feeling a little road weary.  We decided to chill out yesterday afternoon, let Harry swim some more in my parents pool and have some dinner before hitting the road at 6pm.  With all the traveling I’ve done recently, I feel distinctly like I have “travel whiplash” or something.  But these are some early reflections from my weekend in “the Ho”:

  • My parents neighborhood smells SO good.  This is due to the fact that actual flowers grow there like weeds and everything is about 10 times greener than it is here.
  • There are a lot of freakin’ people in San Jose and they pretty much all drive like maniacs.
  • Outdoor pools really need to have some sort of heater, even in the middle of the summer.
  • Liam gets a little psychotic when his routines are disturbed.  This  includes sleeping in a pack n play for all bedtimes and naptimes, sharing a room with his parents and going to sleep in an entirely different environment than he’s used to.
  • Despite getting a little psychotic, he can still be extremely charming and now has multiple people wrapped around his little finger.
  • The iPhone is really, really, really cool and it’s a good thing we don’t have an Apple store near our house or I’d be over there all the time just fondling it.
  • Liam does in fact scream when holy water comes into contact with his head.
  • My 6 year old niece is a dazzling diva.
  • Unripened lemons make excellent pets for small children.  Their names were Sally and Michael.

Now, I need to go unpack once and for all.
