It’s been hard, lately, to find motivation. It’s those dog days of summer, the heat, the boredom, the lack of anticipation. Nothing exciting is going on, at least not this weekend. That makes it hard to get too thrilled about anything, you know what I mean? Plus I’m tired. No real good reason to be tired, just am. Gosh, I’m just a bundle of excitement today, aren’t I?
I suppose that’s why I had my little money-related pity party yesterday. Doesn’t matter if you’re bored or feeling in a funk if you’ve got money to spend, right? Nothing cures the blues like some good, old fashioned retail therapy. Of course, you do realize I’m being sarcastic here, don’t you?
I’ve filled my time this weekend by watching movies on TV (right now “The Terminator” is on on the CW… sweet!), tinkering with blog designs and playing with the boys. Harry is so into planets and outer space and the universe, it’s amazing. We took him by the planetarium on the university campus and he now thinks that is the coolest place ever. When we get a little extra fundage, we’ll have to take him back there for a show because I KNOW he’d just lose his mind. We’re also going to try to catch some of the meteor shower tonight. I hope we can see a few of them, even though we’ll have to look for them fairly early and we may have a little light pollution to contend with. I really want to encourage his interest in all of this. As for Liam, he’s been in a super-jolly mood today. He’s filthy from crawling around and getting into things (and wiping all his food all over himself!) so he’ll need a bath but even that’s okay because he just loves to be in the water. It’s amazing, how happy he is and how different he is from how Harry was at the same age. And I’m totally rediscovering how fun it is to help a child discover the world around him. Right now, Liam has a particular fascination with putting things away. Give him a bucket and some toys to go in it and he’ll entertain himself up one side and down the other with that. Then, of course, that tuckers a kid out so he’s taking a nap right now.
Dang, I wish I could take a nap! I suppose nothing is stopping me, but then I’ll miss the end of “The Terminator”. We can’t have that.
