Despite my better judgment, we went to the “Dawn Patrol” and “Mass Ascension” events for the Great Reno Balloon Race this morning. The alarm went off at some insane hour and Kile got up to use the bathroom. At that point, my brain said, “NO!” and I went right back to sleep. About quarter after 4, he woke me up again, asking if I wanted to go or not. Not, was my answer and he climbed back in bed. But then we both got thinking. I thought I needed to stop being a pussy and just GO, it’s just one day. Then I thought about Harry. He really wanted to go. He would be very upset if we didn’t at least try to wake him up. Considering he’s such a heavy sleeper, I thought there was a good chance that he wouldn’t want to wake up. So Kile went in to check with him. He was back mere moments later, Harry was awake and wanting to go. Crap. That is how we found ourselves out and about before 5 in the morning.
Luckily we found parking and very luckily, we found our friends. I guess I’m glad we went, though by the time we were headed home I was practically insane with hunger and fatigue. At 9 am, I rolled back into bed (poor Kile and Harry had to go to a soccer game at 10, SUCKERS!). God bless it. Anyhow, the pictures I go were pretty good. Below are some of my favorites, more are up on my flickr page.

You don’t know how hard it was to get a picture of these all lit up at the same time with my sub-par camera.

This seriously GIANT eagle balloon was being blown up RIGHT in front of us. Very cool.

Pretty as it is, I could go a good while without catching another sunrise.

There were seriously about a bazillion balloons at this thing. And a bazillion people.

This wasn’t even half the balloons either. Simply amazing.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. The photos are beautiful. I am glad you went this morning. That is one of those things I wish I could have been there to see. I bet Harry loved it this morning, but was he to tired to play soccer? Hope he won! Again, Thanks for sharing the photos….. I loved them.

So this one time my dad tried to drag me to the Autumn Aloft, he bribed me with Cookie Crisp cereal, I got to eat it on the drive up there. The weather was bad, the balloons didn’t go up, the Cookie Crisp was nasty and I threw up. The end.

Wow, those are amazing photos! Personally, I’m glad you got up so early because I got to enjoy the pictures without the pain of waking up in the dark! Thanks!
