We made it home just minutes ago and as usual, I’m SO glad to be home. It’s my stuff. The place may be a mess, but it’s my mess. My recliner might have a hole torn in it, but it’s my hole. My dogs may be idiots, but they’re my idiots. And judging from the air they’ve been getting on their leaps, they missed me quite a bit. And maybe Kile and Harry and Liam too. Just a little.
We stopped and visited my mom before leaving town. She was looking good, a lot better than she looked Friday night when we got to town. So that was encouraging. I still don’t know when they’ll let her go home, but the worst seems to be behind her now. I left them with specific instructions to keep us updated on what’s happening from now on. This waiting a few days to tell me important stuff has to stop because that was very much not cool.
I went to a wedding last night, the original purpose behind this little trip of ours. It was a lot of fun, even though Kile had to stay behind and watch the boys. It was pretty extravagant, as far as weddings go. The filet mignon I ordered was the thickest one I’ve ever SEEN much less ate. Everything was very fancy and the decorations were top notch. I as a little bummed that I didn’t get to partake of all the alcohol. They even had champagne at every place setting when we sat down. I had to pass mine off to my brother. Boo! Better than going to waste, I suppose. It was fun, but I’m officially a fuddy duddy. I had to venture into the next room to retrieve my dessert and that’s where the band was playing. I actually had the thought, “I can’t even hear myself think.” I thought only old people thought that. So yeah, I didn’t do any dancing but that might be because my dance partner was absent. There was a beautiful view from this place, it was atop a mountain overlooking the entire valley. If I had thought to remember my actual camera (and not just my cellphone camera), I could have taken a picture to share with you all, because it was truly breathtaking.
Still, I’m glad to be home. Home, sweet home!

Glad to hear your mom is doing better. I will continue to pray for her. I’m also glad you made it home safe and sound. Did your family know about the baby before the trip? If not, What did they say? Was your mom thrilled?

I know what you mean about missing your dance partner, I was at a party on vacation and it just wasn’t the same.

Glad to hear you made it home safe! Dad got me to the airport too late to make my flight, but I actually got BETTER flights than those I originally booked. I left an hour later and got home an hour earlier (before, my itinerary called for a 3 hour layover in Chicago and now I only spent an hour in Denver). All in all, a pretty cool turn of events, despite Dad’s boo-boo. I couldn’t wait to see my family. The kids were ecstatic to see their mama. Adam was a sight for sore eyes!
As for the wedding, our whole table didn’t feel like dancing - I think the filet mignon put us all into hibernation mode until our digestive systems could handle it! It was great to see you all!
