We’re currently being slammed by a storm that everyone here in town is just losing their freakin’ minds over. The checkout lady at Walmart yesterday actually referred to it as “The Storm of the Century”. Uh, no. We had that back in 2005, remember? I’ve got the steel pins in my ankle to prove it. I don’t doubt that it’ll be quite the storm, but let’s just settle down for a minute, okay? Yesterday, it started with the winds and if there’s any weather phenomena I can do without, it’s wind. Early this morning, the rain started. And, as sometimes happens when you get a gnarly storm, it hasn’t stopped since. So my backyard now looks like this:

Attractive, no? I wonder why on earth I want to actually LANDSCAPE the thing. It’s just so beautiful the way it is.
And yes, that is a chunk of fence already missing from the back there. The winds, they were mean. But thankfully, they died down last night and never really picked back up again. They were supposed to be around 30 miles per hour last night and pretty much all day today. But so far? Just rain. And I can do that. I can do rain. And theoretically, this rain is supposed to turn to snow later this afternoon/evening. And then it’s supposed to snow all weekend. Wee! I can’t wait until all this rain FREEZES under that snow. I may never leave the house again.
But yes, the news is losing their damn minds over the storm too and has gone so far as to tell people to stay off the mountains for fear of their IMMINENT DEATH. I kid you not. Being that we are technically located in the “foothills”, we will probably get more snow that in town but as long as it’s less than the FOUR FEET we got from the New Years 2005 storm, I refuse to be impressed.
However, I may take pictures. Be prepared for that.

SUCK.
It is headed this way very soon. It is supposed to hit long and hard.
Like, “Don’t go anywhere unless you have to.” type warnings are already coming down.
Do you know how many places I have to go in the next few days?
This sucks six ways from Sunday.
Arg.
