So yesterday, we went out as we often will do on a Saturday, to run some errands. After having lunch at Jack in the Box, we headed towards Babies R Us. Again. I swear, I’m starting to think I live at that store. Harry HATES it and just barely tolerates entering the building. He cannot wait until we no longer need to shop there. In his opinion, it’s the most boring store in all of creation. As far as I’m concerned, that store would be Home Depot or some other hardware/tool store. But I digress. We wanted to take the new double stroller out for a test spin and see how a Graco SafeSeat would fit in the infant carseat adapter. I had already determined that a regular Graco SnugRide fit pretty decently, but wasn’t sure if the SafeSeat would be any different. (Oh, and by the way: So far we are loving the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem. Give me a few more weeks, perhaps after the baby is born and we really get to roadtest it and I’ll give you a good review of it. But, so far so good.)
Harry wanted to push the stroller in the store but it’s a rather large stroller and he did okay but had trouble judging corners and keeping from blocking people’s progress through the store. Gah. Anyhow, we determined that the SafeSeat will fit just fine. Some of the infant seats, while they fit, don’t really “snap” in and are less secure than the Graco seats. So I think that just cemented our decision to stay with the Graco name we know and love. We browsed some other items, but again left empty-handed. We sorta excel at doing that.
After that, we stopped by Sears, over at the mall. Kile didn’t want to put Liam in a stroller (either the regular single or the double) and instead chose to carry him. I don’t have to tell you that it wasn’t the best idea and that I knew that right off. I mean, I wouldn’t want to carry him through the store. But, whatever. We were there to scope out microwaves. We don’t know whether we want to go for an even replacement of the one that is now kaput (which would cost us about $60 or so) or chose to replace our stove hood with a microwave/hood which would be considerably more expensive. We saw a great hood that had everything we thought we’d need and want for a mere $210. However, if we chose to go with the hood, we wouldn’t be able to get it until (you guessed it) we got our tax return. (I’m getting pretty damn sick of me talking about that stupid tax return already, I can only imagine how you all feel.) Of course, we’d need a microwave in the meantime so that would mean getting an inexpensive replacement in the meantime. And we’re pretty cheap so $60 or so isn’t inexpensive in our book. We decided to leave and think about it some. We could always come back later in the weekend and get the $60 microwave if we wanted to.
So after browsing around Sears some more, we left (again, empty-handed). I was starting to really “feel it”, as I hadn’t worn my maternity support belt and was having some rather aggravating Braxton Hicks while I was walking around (never a good sign). The boys wanted to stop at Toys R Us to look around and I chose to stay behind in the car and read (I keep a book in there for just such occasions). After that? We were homeward bound. An entire afternoon out and about and nothing really was accomplished. But hey, at least it kept us busy, right?
Let’s hope that today is a little more productive though. We have church in a little while (speaking of: I need to go get dressed) and afterward we’re going to hit up Sam’s Club. I saw on their website that they have a rather inexpensive microwave for $35 so that may make the decision for us. We also need to get some groceries. And I’ll definitely be wearing my belt today, you can count on that! It may drive me crazy but standing up and walking around for any length of time without is downright impossible.
Happy Sunday, ya’ll!
