The bed? It is here.
And yes, it is everything I’ve hoped it would be. So far, I’ve only had a chance to lay on it for a half hour and watch Deserving Design on HGTV (Vern Yip rocks!). And can I just say? It is HEAVEN.
I hesitate to say it was worth the wait because that was an AWFUL long wait. I don’t know if ANYTHING can be worth that kind of wait. We’re talking YEARS here, people. That’s a long time to wait for a new bed, even if that new bed IS heaven.
I could hardly sleep last night for the anticipation (that and the incredible backache, hipache, armache, bellyache…etc). And my stomach was churning all morning and afternoon until that bed was set up in my room. Seeing as how I’m a veritable cripple these days and absolutely useless to do much of anything but bark orders from my chair. And trust me, that’s not as fun as it sounds. I was literally itching to get my hands in the preparations for this project as there was quite a bit to do. But the brief moment in time where I did jump in to help, I found my legs literally shaking as I was standing still, throwing some junk in the garbage. What the HECK?? I’ve never even heard of that happening before. So yeah. The chair it was.
Anyhow, I know you’re dying to actually SEE the bed, aren’t you? First, let’s see a “before” shot. This was taken shortly after we moved in in June of 2004. So the room is a bit cleaner but the bed still sucks.
Gah, right? I mean, the frame is nice but that broke back in 2005 and besides looking nice wasn’t functioning all that great anymore (there was a giant block of wood holding up the one corner). So yeah.
And here is the new bed, taken tonight. I wasn’t able to get as good an angle which led me to believe I must have stood on a chair to take the 2004 picture. But, whatever. Here it is, complete with GROWNUP bedding. How gorgeous is that bedspread?? (We got it at TARGET, believe it or not.)
Tis truly a thing of beauty, no? See how HIGH it is? That comes from having a mattress that is more than just a mere pancake of uselessness. And it is sooooo wide. And have I mentioned how comfy it is? I love it. I think I want to marry it. I’m actually looking forward to going to bed tonight. That has to be a first.

I think this might be my first time commenting here, but I actually read you every day. I’m just horrible at commenting. Your bed looks awesomely comfortable!!!
I can’t say that I know how you feel (I wasn’t pregnant), but I know that when we got our new bed in February of last year, I didn’t want to get out of it the next morning. It was absolute HEAVEN to me. We had been sleeping on what was my husband’s bed before we married. I have a broken back, and his mattresses were horrible on my back. Some mornings I would wake up and have a hard time even moving.
I hope that when you wake up tomorrow morning you are so comfy and in love with the bed that you don’t want to get out of it. :+)

Wait until you go away and have to sleep in a smaller-than-King-sized bed. It’s like the STRANGEST most foreign thing ever! Commence spoilage. You deserve it!
