As as I mentioned earlier, we went to Build-A-Bear Workshop in the mall this weekend. And oh my holy heck, what a place that is. Those people, they have quite the racket going, don’t they? This place is a kid’s DREAM. Moreover? It’s a little girl’s dream. Which isn’t to say that the boys weren’t charmed with the place. They were. Liam was all wide-eyes and Harry had absolutely no trouble finding plenty of things for us to buy in there. As I said, his creation cost almost twice as much as Liam’s.
Harry insisted on doing up a rather masculine dog. And he picked a dog that barks and wags it’s tail when you pet it. Oh, I kid you not. It’s quite something. Of course, “quite something” also equals “quite expensive”, but whatever. We just let him pick out what he wanted. It’s cute, I’ll give it that. He also picked out a matching pet/baby puppy to go with it. Which, ya know, YIKES, but okay. As for clothing, he selected blue jeans and a Spider-Man t-shirt. His one girly concession (after we reminded him that he was making this dog for his baby sister) was a pink rhinestone leash and collar.
Liam, on the other hand, was subject to our whims so he “picked” a pink fluffy bear with a heart on her foot and magnets in her paws and cheeks for cute posing opportunities. Plainly put? Adorable. Liam even “kissed” the heart that got sewn inside and gave the finished product a good, enthusiastic hug (his own “seal of approval” if you will). We picked out a simple baby-style pink sleeper for the bear that says “Thank Heaven For Little Bears” on it. Done and done.
Anyhow, here are the finished products, awaiting their owner here in another 5+ weeks (gah!):
I guess you could say we’re covered if she’s girly and if she’s more tomboy-ish, right?
In other news, I have new snack love. And get this: It’s HEALTHY. Or rather, as healthy a snack as I’m likely to eat. Which is to say it’s not dripping in chocolate or loaded with high fructose corn syrup. Still, it’s rather yummy. And I have recently acquired my second bag of this lovely substance and fully look forward to plowing through it with gusto.
I KNOW! They’re made from rice cakes! I’ve been anti-rice cakes ever since the third grade when I was eating one and found a maggot in it (true story!). If that isn’t enough to turn a person off to rice cakes for life, I don’t knwo what is. But I thought I’d give these a shot and I completely love them. They’re crunchy but lightly sweet. Perfect for when I get the mid-afternoon munchies (or the late morning munchies, or the late night munchies, or the lunchtime munchies…). Anyhow, I just had to share in case any of you out there needed a yummy snack to eat that wouldn’t make you feel extra guilty. And let’s face it, we can ALL use more of that, can’t we?
