Whoops. Funny how the day gets away from you, isn’t it? Silly me put more stock in plowing through my Google Reader backlog (Heaven forbid I should leave my computer behind for more than a day for surely then the feeds will EAT US ALL) than in updating the blog. For shame! Anyhow, before we slip into blissful 3-day weekend-land, I wanted to run a few items past ya’ll.
Item the First: I had a perinatologist appointment today. The news is GOOD, the baby is looking a-okay. The numbers from her MCA scan are right on target for her gestational age and following the curve nicely. He says that if she were developing anemia she would have excess fluid (she doesn’t) and her movement would be changing (it isn’t). The doctor said he didn’t see anything to make him believe she was in any danger at the current moment. He did caution me to keep track of her kicks and to notify my doctor if her movement slowed down at all. In the meantime, I’ll be back there in two weeks again for another scan. Wee! I got to see how she’s oriented in there and she’s still head up. She had a hand right next to her face and one of her legs up next to her head as well. Funny thing is? Her other leg is down beneath her. You know, that CANNOT be comfortable. But it would explain the location of some of her most violent movements.
Item the Second: Disappointment. I want to thank you all for your wonderful comments on my post on this subject. I just wanted to say that it wasn’t any one big event that caused my funk on the matter. Just some small disappointments during an already somewhat unpleasant day that caused me to reflect on WHY this makes me upset more than I think it should. Anyhow, I felt you all should know that I’ve found a very good antidote to this disappointment is to expect the worst. Now, I wouldn’t recommend this in all situations of course. I hold out the highest hopes as far as this pregnancy is concerned and I feel like I should. To do less would be a disservice to this baby and myself in the long run. But I’m talking about the little things. Casual plans and such. Even better is if you and hubby make it a sort of “game”. Then you can have a good chuckle about it later.
Item the Third: Our Wii has shipped! Note: this is far in advance of the original estimated shipping date of February 19. In fact, we are due to receive this wonderful bundle on February 18. Suh-weetness! Of course, I sort of expected this. We have many and sundry Amazon.com warehouses in the area and often receive shipments from them rather quick. But still, I had to laugh at this tracking detail on the UPS site:

FYI: Sparks is like CONNECTED to Reno so it’s basically like saying the package originated and terminated in Reno. Wootness! That has to be the fastest package transit in history, eh? One whole minute from origin to destination. Still, it won’t get delivered tomorrow because the delivery date is the 18th and if I know UPS, they don’t deliver a minute before they have to. (I’m still a little bitter about Harry Potter’s Book 7) Still, that’s all well and good because we’re going to be out of the house all weekend until Monday anyhow. Am WAY excited to play with it.
Item the Fourth: “LOST” rocked my socks as usual last night. But I have to say that I called the ending. Sort of. I mean, as the guy was talking Kile and I both said, “Hey, it’s ___!” And it was. I felt very smart. Of course, all night I’d had a feeling that this particular person was either on Sayid’s “whack list” or the one orchestrating it so it was really just a very easy process of elimination at that point. Ahem. Am interested to see who the remaining two “Oceanic Six” are, but I have a good idea. All in all, a good episode. Can’t wait to see how things develop from here!
That be it from here. If you’ll pardon me, I have to get back to my busy schedule of sitting on my ass because it would appear that every time I walk for more than 20 feet I become a complete crippled invalid.
