No Jamming Tonight

by Marilyn on March 7, 2008

Alas.  Shortly after my earlier post I got a message from Kile saying he’d forgotten he needs to work late tonight.  Just a couple hours, but enough to make attempting Monster Jam inconvenient.  Of course, this is less than ideal.  Harry is anticipating going tonight so he is bound to be disappointed.  They were supposed to meet some friends there tonight, which means they’ll miss out on that.  I’m hoping Harry didn’t know about that part (I didn’t tell him, but one of his friends may have mentioned it at school), because otherwise he’ll be even more upset.  And, of course, this means no relaxing evening for me with a chick flick and some chocolate.  Drat.

Kile still plans to go later in the weekend.  It’s just a matter of when.  Sunday is pretty much out because of church and whatnot.  And tomorrow afternoon isn’t such a great idea since if we wanted to do pretty much anything, it would interfere with that.  So tomorrow night might be the best option.  So “Me Night” isn’t completely out of the cards yet.  I was just looking forward to it tonight.  And it looks as if I’ll have the exact OPPOSITE of “Me Night”, with Kile working late and all.  sigh

Phooey.

Anyhow, before I leave ya’ll for the weekend, I want to share with you a few random thoughts to finish out the week:

  • How sad is it about Patrick Swayze having cancer??   That just puts a big old crimp in my whole perspective on life.  (And is it really bad that I got freaked out when I read he is 55 years old?  When did THAT happen??)
  • Liam has earned a new nickname: Fruit Lemur.  He’s on some sort of hunger strike this week and while fruit has always been a favored food of his, it is now one of the only things he will reliably eat (sometimes, today he chucked all his banana pieces on the floor).  He’s freaking me out, is what he’s doing.  Why won’t this child EAT??  We’ve taken to spiking his sippy cup with high fat/protein smoothies and trying to find ways to sneak meat into his diet.  UGH.
  • He also is having some rather interesting BMs lately.  I’m sure it has nothing to do with all the fruit. (insert eyeroll here)
  • He is also experiencing some sort of contrary-baby epiphany of some sort.  Not that he hasn’t always been a little on the contrary side, but now he’s downright obstinate and CRANKY.
  • Is it just me or do Moose A. Moose’s (from Noggin, duh) antlers actually come out of his ears?  Cuz that’s what it looks like.  Drives me nuts.

I was just about to hit publish when Kile IM’d me and he’s having second thoughts about not going tonight.  He still has to work late, but he thinks they can make Monster Jam if I drop Harry off there and they hustle right over.  Of course, it’s too late to buy tickets online so they’d have to do it at the door.  Sooooo… there may be jamming tonight after all!  And if that’s the case then this whole post is pretty much pointless, isn’t it? Don’t answer that.

Time keeps on ticking

by Marilyn on March 7, 2008

I didn’t mention it yesterday, but don’t think it escaped my notice that it was a Thursday and therefore a mere two weeks until my c-section.  HOW can it be two weeks already?  Don’t they know that I don’t have things near ready enough yet?  Do they care?  I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess: NO.  (And who is this “they” anyhow??)

Kile stayed home yesterday as he was nursing a gnarly cold.  I was glad he did, I think he should do what he can to kick that sooner rather than later.  And, preferably, not give it to me.  He did leave the house with me, however, to run to Home Depot where we acquired some paint for the nursery (does this mean the nursery will be painted this weekend?  Tune in to find out!).  We also stopped by Starbucks so I could get a Caramel Apple Spice.  DUDE.  That stuff is like crack.  We grabbed a quick lunch at Wendy’s before heading to the local grocery store to pick up some much needed milk and some other supplies.  Excitement abounds!  But that was it and we headed home to deposit Liam in his crib for a nap.

One look at Evie’s room tells me that I have a LOT of work to do.  Painting, wallpaper border and valence rod aside, there is a lot of “stuff” in there that needs to be relocated.  I have a feeling this will be my big project this weekend.   No pressure, you know.  Just have to GET IT DONE.

Tonight, “Monster Jam” comes to Reno and the plan is that Harry and Kile are going.  Liam and I are staying behind because a) the noise would almost certainly freak Liam’s shit OUT and b) I would like Evie to pass her newborn hearing test if at all possible, thanks.  But it’ll be something fun for the “big boys” to do together and Harry is so excited about it that I’m pretty sure he’ll be launching into the stratosphere at any moment.  They’re going to try to meet up with some friends while they’re there, so hopefully that works out.  I’m excited for them.  I wish I could join the fun, but I imagine I’ll have a nice time here at home.  Liam will go down to sleep fairly early and then I’ll be able to veg out in front of the TV and watch a nice chick flick or somesuch.  There may, or may not, be chocolate involved.

TWO WEEKS, people.  This is not a drill.  Two weeks from today I’ll be recovering from my first night of no sleep with a new baby.  The anticipation might just eat us all.
