You Need to Read - March 8

Posted on Saturday, March 8th, 2008, 7:38 AM

It’s another Saturday.  At least I’m not up in the middle of the night, hunkering down against the wind.  No, instead this time we’re up early with a crabby child.  I don’t know what Liam’s deal has been this week.  But I’m sure hoping it’s temporary.  Maybe he’s teething (please oh please oh please)?  At any rate, I’ve got some great posts to share with you, it was a pretty good week.  And I always worry that I’m only getting a fraction of the really good posts out there.  If you think I’m missing some great posts too, drop me a line and let me know!  I love having new blogs to read.  Sure, it takes about a bazillion years to read them all but someone’s gotta do it! Heh.

  • And the results are … from moxygen.  Oh my stars!  She’s having THREE more girls!  That is a heck of a lot of pink, wouldn’t you agree?  I still am trying to wrap my mind around three babies at once, much less all of them being girls.  Congratulations to your family!
  • Fanny and Fifteen. from Joy Unexpected. Wow, I’ve got TWO from the delectable Y this week!  First off is about an aggravating PTA mom.  We all know about aggravating PTA mom types, don’t we?  I had a hard time NOT just leaping out of my chair and cheering for Y when she told her off.  No apology was necessary!  The second post is about her first son turning fifteen and that frankly just freaks me out because I know “my day” is coming.  I’m already freaked enough that mine is eight.  So I definitely feel for her on this one.
  • French Lick Sounds Kinda Dirty from Playgroups are No Place For Children.  I agree on two counts here: a) French Lick DOES sound dirty and b) I had no idea that the town even existed, let alone was the birthplace of Larry Bird.  I guess you learn something new every day?  At any rate, you should NOT feel bad, Jennifer, those basketball-crazy Hoosiers are so single-minded!
  • welcome to the world Ollie! from Hollow Squirrel.  I can’t believe she’s had him already!  Congrats to the Squirrel family!  And he is absolutely GORGEOUS as all photos since this post have indicated.
  • Struggle from loraleeslooneytunes.com.  This post prompted me to blog about a similar topic this week.  We’re both sorta members of the same sucky club here, and I can definitely feel where she’s coming from here.  I wish there was an answer, something to make it better.  There just… isn’t.  And that’s what sucks.  Big *hugs* for Loralee.
  • The Crazy Chronicles, Part 2: Flora Is Bi-Polar from Boobs, Injuries and Dr. Pepper. I feel like I had my heart in my throat the entire time I read this.  I felt agonized for her.  And, may I say, I think she’s incredibly brave to post about this experience of hers.  I cannot even imagine what it must have been like in that position, so I am grateful that she offered a peek through the window to all of us.
  • Poop keeps on landing on my lawn from better now. GAH.  This sort of thing would drive me absolutely nuts.  Why can’t people just live next door to one another without being total nimrods to one another?  If I were Kristin, this lady might be waking up to a bag of crap on her doorstep one morning with a note that says “not ours”.  But then, I can be a jerk that way.
  • An Open Letter to Myself from Fluent Brittish.  I swear to you, I could have written this whole letter to myself, word for word (and maybe some extra words about some other rooms that could use some attention).  What I need to do is pull out this post when I’m feeling up to the activity (certainly NOT today) and let is spur me on towards making a dent in the disaster.  Or maybe I could even write my own post.  Good thinking.
  • Farewell, Rockstar Mommy from Surrender, Dorothy. I agree, 100%, on all counts.  I’m sad to see her go, but at the same time, can’t understand just leaving the Blogosphere.  I’m quite happy where I am, I feel I still have a decent balance as far as my family is concerned.  Leaving blogging behind just seems on par with cutting off my own arm at this point.
  • Open Letter to Victoria’s Secret from Suburban Oblivion.  AMEN, sister.  When I was in college, I shopped pretty much exclusively at Victoria’s Secret for lingerie.  Now, post-children, all I can do is peek in the windows as I pass in the mall.  I totally agree, VS needs to modernize and start including more women in their product lineup if they want to really rake in the dollars.
  • And You Thought Your Child Was Hard to Handle? from Suburban Turmoil.  GAH.  Just… GAH!!  I haven’t had this particular phenomena happen to me yet (THANK GOD), but I have a feeling it might yet be in my future.  I think I might just be as liable to freak out as anyone, sadly, and this event would probably cause me to use about three cans of Lysol and a gallon of bleach just to try to wash it away.

And there we have it. It’s only taken me about an hour to type all these up.  That’s how much my ass is dragging this morning.  I think I need to start a coffee IV.

Thanks for having me on your list!!!

Now that we’ve started telling people we’re starting to hear the old “well, so and so was told they were having a girl and when the baby came out it was a boy!” I admit to feeling a bit of dread when it comes to 3 girls going through puberty at once with an older sister to show them the way to driving their parents completely crazy. These looks into the future can scare the crap outta you.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that my letter suits. Mine, of course, was censored quite a bit. There are things about my housekeeping that even the Internet shouldn’t know! Ha ha!

Well, may I just say that I love these lists? I enjoyed the letter to VS, especially the part about nursing bras!! And while their bathing suit issue is kinda silly, the actual bathing suits are very nice. And the sales rep on the phone when I ordered mine was very helpful with translating underware & bra sizes to bathing suit sizes. And not having to try on a bathing suit at the store? PRICELESS!!
