So yeah. I went.

by Marilyn on March 14, 2008

Just like we all I knew I would, I went to my appointment today.  Cuz I’m a good little robot that way.  No, I just vowed to give that one lady the evil eye if she was there (she was not).  That made me feel better about it, at least.  That and I could hear the baby’s heartbeat which is just a win-win.

So again, I got myself and the boys all ready and rounded up.  Again, I headed out on the highway (today I HAD to stop for gas because it takes about a half gallon to get anywhere out here in the sticks).  Again, I picked up Kile at work and again, we drove downtown to the doctor’s office.  But I knew fate had to be on our side today because we were able to find a parking spot on level 2 right near the elevators!  And the way this place is set up, we wouldn’t have to take a parking garage elevator at all because you can just walk over from the second floor on an elevated walkway and enter the building from there.  Bonus!

The sweet parking spot put me in a pretty good mood. The office was packed when we got there so we had to wait a little bit.  But when it was (eventually) called back, I got some good news in the form of the weigh in.  No weight gain!  WOOT!  That makes a whole month without gain and only 22 lbs to date.  So YAY me.  I did my pee thing (which, by the way, I am a TOTAL pro at) and then went back to the NST room where my darling family awaited me.  Yes, we all cram in that tiny little room and make snarky remarks about each other for a good 30-50 minutes.  It’s good times all around, people, don’t knock it till you try it.  Evie was her usual extremely cooperative self for the NST and even kicked the nurse as she was trying to get the monitors hooked up.  It was great listening to her heartbeat and with all of us there, it really felt like all of us together as a family.  As corny as that might sound.

The extra, EXTRA good news?  I didn’t have to have an internal exam.  WOO HOO!  Dodged that bullet altogether, didn’t I?  There should be some sort of award for that, I’m sure.  I asked the doctor about measuring my belly but she said she didn’t think it was necessary.  My u/s at 35 weeks showed her right on target and she figures that’s more accurate than her measurements anyhow.   I also asked some questions about getting a tubal.  She said that during the c-section they cut both tubes and then tie them off.  I know that’s not as good as burning the tubes, but she says this is the most common way of doing it.  She did mention the ectopic risk and when I told her we were thinking of getting a vasectomy for Kile to “double up” she laughed.  So I went ahead and signed the tubal consent form and she told me that I had up until I was on the table to change my mind.  But for now, all systems are GO.  Time to sterilize Marilyn!

Afterward, we were all feeling a mite peckish so we decided to have lunch at the university before sending Kile back to work.  And we had another stroke of brilliant parking luck.  We found a FREE spot right outside the dining hall!  We had a nice lunch and Liam was even able to score some chocolate milk which pleased him endlessly.   After that? It was time to head home and naps all around!  (Well, for me and Liam.  Harry played Wii.)

I have another NST scheduled for Wednesday that I don’t HAVE to go to.  My doctor said it was up to me.  I’ll probably go, but it’s nice to know that if I feel her moving around a lot and things are busy (as they are likely to be the day before a BABY IS BORN) that I can just cancel it and avoid the rigmarole.

Oooh, housekeeping note!

My comments were a little jacked yesterday and earlier today.  I’m pretty sure this has something to do with all my reinstalling and whatnot.  BUT, the good news is that I think I’ve got it all fixed.  So feel free to comment away!

LOST is messing with my head… again

by Marilyn on March 14, 2008

How GOOD was “LOST” last night?  Well, I’m sure some people would debate me on this, but I thought it was good.  I felt well and truly fooled a good deal of the time, though I will admit to getting suspicious early on.  I’m gonna warn you now, if you’re one of those that TIVO’s “LOST” and watches it over the weekend, then you may just wanna skip this post.  Because I plan to talk about everything that happened.  And there will probably be lots of CAPITALIZATION and exclamation points!!!  And perhaps some double question marks because it was that kind of episode??

Have you left yet?  Well, why the heck not?  I’m gonna be spilling major beans here!

Okay, have all the TIVO’ers gone?  Good.  Time to talk “LOST”.

Count me in as someone who was totally faked out by the Jin and Sun flashbacks/forwards.  BUT, I remember thinking early on that I would feel a lot better once we saw them in the SAME flash-forward because I’ve been watching this show since 2004 here, people, and I don’t trust these darned writers for a SECOND anymore.  Plus, don’t think I didn’t notice that Sun was recognized as one of the Oceanic Six and then Jin was not.  PLUS, Jin had an awfully prehistoric looking cell phone (before it got all run over and stuff).  And he seemed to be kind of a pissy guy, more like “Old Jin” and not “New Jin”.  So all these things were duly noted and raised some serious red flags in my head.  But I wanted to believe it so bad that I just went along with it.  So while the “reveal” at the end didn’t exactly surprise me, it sure upset me.

Juliet spilling the beans to Jin about Sun’s affair?  SO OUT OF LINE.  OMG.  I think I actually gasped out loud, a sort of “Oh no she di’n't!”  She says she did it to keep Sun from going to Locke’s camp but COME ON, that was so not the only way to get that particular objective achieved.  Plainly put, that was not her beans to spill and I rejoiced when Sun let her have it in a grand, old-fashioned bitchslap.  Dude, she DESERVED that.  Cuz that was just twenty different shades of WRONG.  I’m almost a little disappointed that Sun eventually forgave Juliet because even though Juliet was speaking sense, she didn’t deserve to be forgiven.  Ahem.  Maybe I’m a little bitter?

Over on the ship, we meet the “captain” (about whom Desmond and Sayid have received a note, telling them not to trust him) and he’s an awfully abrupt sort of fellow.  First he let’s this gal just hop off the ship wrapped in chains, sinking to her inevitable death.  His words? “Just let her go.”  Riiiight.  There’s a story there, you KNOW it.  Then he tells Sayid and Desmond that it’s Charles Widmore’s boat (which causes Desmond’s eyes to bug out a little further than usual) and shows them the plane’s black box.  He tells them about the plane that was recovered with all the bodies accounted for on board that Widmore apparently discovered.  Except, of course, that wasn’t the real plane and those weren’t the real bodies.  It was a plant, a ruse, a “practical joke” of the Benjamin Linus variety.  Which is why they’re intent on finding him.  And that?  Makes total sense to me.  Because you KNOW that sounds like something that Ben would totally do.  That he has those kinds of resources at his finger tips (including 300+ bodies) is kinda freaky, but not altogether out of the realm of possibility.  Anyhow, the captain makes it known that he wants to get them all out of there as soon as possible.  By them, I’m thinking he meant the ship, though he could mean people from the island too.  I don’t know.

ANYHOW, we finally see who the spy on the ship is and it’s (gasp) Michael.   I’d like to know exactly who that surprised because I was DEFINITELY not surprised.  I don’t think there was any question.  I’m interested to see how Ben got Mike to work for him but from next week’s preview, it looks like some good, old-fashioned blackmailing concerning Walt.  Wee!  I can’t wait to see his story.  Of course, I’ll be IN THE HOSPITAL when it airs.  Which means either a) I will have to watch it there and hope I have a private room and plenty of peace and quiet to concentrate and enjoy the episode or b) I will have let the DVR do it’s thang and watch it when I get sprung which will probably be MONDAY.  GAH.  Anyhow.

So that takes us up to the end of the show.  Jin forgives Sun for her indiscretions and they all live happily ever after, right?  Well in his flashback we see that all this time he’s been rushing to the hospital to deliver a stuffed panda to the daughter of a work contact.  Yep, it’s “Old Jin”, he and Sun have only been married 2 months.  *sigh*  We have a flash-forward, Sun in her apartment putting her ring back on.  And I know it at that point.  I mean, it’s kinda obvious.  A knock at the door, and it’s HURLEY!  Yay!  He’s happy to see no one else has come to visit but acts as if he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else on earth that moment than visiting Sun and her new daughter.  Aww, what a sweet guy.  He holds the baby and remarks how much she looks like Jin, which causes Sun to get a little choked up.  He suggests they go visit him and I go, “GAHHHH!!!!” Because of COURSE this means going to the cemetery.  The rest of the show consists of me blubbering senselessly and gaping at the TV and shaking my fists at the heavens, but you get the gist.

Now, does this mean I think Jin is truly dead?  In a word (or three)?  I don’t know.  See, these writers are squirrelly sorts.   I don’t trust them for a minute.  Jin could have died on the island, he could have died after rescue OR he could be simply back on the island.  Remember how Kate testified about only the six of them surviving?  Which you know, is total bullshit.  They made that story up to “protect the island” (and all it’s many wonders!) and the people who either wanted or had to stay behind.  For WHATEVER reason, only six could get off.  And apparently one of those six is Sun.

Next week, someone dies.  Jin?  Claire?  I admit it doesn’t look good for either of them, but really, the only assurance we have right now is that it’s not Ben, Sayid, Jack, Kate, Aaron, Hurley or Sun.   So… yeah.  GOOD TIMES.
