Spoiled girl

I know “they” all say that you can’t spoil a newborn. But I swear, in the hospital, she would actually sleep in her bassinet. No foolin’! We could put here in there and there she’d stay until she woke up and wanted to eat. In fact, I can’t remember a single time that she slept with me in my hospital bed. The notion was, quite frankly, laughable. After all, why would she need to? She sleeps so well in that bassinet!

And now? Fast forward two weeks (yes, she is officially TWO WEEKS OLD KILLMENOW) and she won’t sleep anywhere that she’s not touching someone else. Her bassinet? It’s a great place to put here when she’s out cold and you might buy yourself 10 or 20 minutes or so. The vibrating bouncy seat is also on her “unacceptable” list. I put here in there so I could eat lunch with *gasp!* two hands and she’s still there. Not technically awake, but not liking it either. She has a permanent frown going on and every so often she’ll peek her eyes open and glare at me. Maybe if she sits in there for a while she’ll get used to it? Please? Because, DANG, I need to be able to put her down once in a while. I love and adore her to tears, don’t get me wrong, but Kile WILL be going back to work eventually and I’ll be all healed up and there are other children in this house (what, she hasn’t gotten the memo?).

I’d love to be able to do nothing more than just hold her every day for hours on end. Honestly, that would be ideal. But it’s not realistic. I was able to do that quite a bit with Liam because Harry was so much older and off at school all day. But now I’ve got Liam to chase around (and I pretty much mean that literally) and I just don’t have the luxury. I hate that I don’t have the luxury, but there you have it.

So, the princess needs to just adapt to the way things are around here. The first step involves embracing the bouncy seat. Know it and love it, little girl.

Conked out
A rare shot taken while she sleeps in the bassinet

Angel Girl
Much more typical: napping on my lap.

Cozy Cocoon
Even more typical?  Sleeping on my chest with her head tucked up under my bathrobe.
