You Need to Read - April 5

Posted on April 5th, 2008

Okay, better late than never, right?  It’s an even SHORTER list this week, but I’m still trying to play “catch up” around here.  Do you think I missed a great post or two this week?  If so, leave the link the comments.  Then, everyone else can see it and I can make sure I keep my eye on that site this week.  Sound like a deal?  Okay, then let’s get on with it.  Enjoy the links!

  • How I Kept Myself Entertained on the Train from Petroville.  Don’t watch this video unless you want to bust a gut laughing.  And remind me never to sit next to her when I’m feeling drowsy.
  • my baby from there’s a new monarchy in town.  This post killed me.  I don’t want to become known as the person who only shares horrible, devastating news, but I had to share this.  I cannot even imagine their pain.
  • Twelve Weeks Pregnant, About to Give Birth from Girl’s Gone Child.  How unbelievably EXCITING.  And shoot, I’m excited for her!  I would love to read this book, support a fellow blogger and get lot in her story.  I think this is the dream, am I right?
  • A Story That I Will Never Ever Tell Anyone, Except… from amalah . com.  God bless Amy for sharing this story.  Hasn’t something similar to this happened to all of us at one point or another?
  • The End from Lizarita!.  This is terribly sad (and I’m pretty sure she means it) but it does happen and she will be missed.  I’m always sad to see another blogger leave us.  I hope she feels a weight lifted off her shoulders now.
  • Reeling from Lag Liv.  If there’s one family that does NOT need more stress and issues this year, it’s probably this one.  Her poor baby has been in the hospital more times than any of mine have in the last 8 1/2 years!
  • Splogging - Don’t Do It from Sparks and Butterflies.  Ugh, I HATE splogging.  This blog has been splogged many a time.  So far, the sploggers have “behaved” but it doesn’t make seeing even small snippets of my content on a “faux” blog any easier to see.  I wish there were a better way to fight back.
  • Twitter for dummies. from moosh in indy.  Are you Twittering?  Why not?? Casey joined the ranks of the Twitterers and she has now been sucked into the vortex.  I loves mah Twitter.  I’m always happy to see another one join our ranks.

Yep, I said it was short.  But it’s sweet.  Or bittersweet (in some instances).  Or incredibly goofy (thanks, Kimberly!).  And should give you some good fodder for the rest of the weekend.  And thanks for patient with me getting this up.  I’m not sure my site is back to 100%, but whatever.  I’m so over it right now.

Technology hates me

Posted on April 5th, 2008

So, as you may have noticed, there is no YNTR today.  I apologize.  I may be able to get some links up later.  I may not.  But not only do I have a newborn working against me (seriously, she eats ALL THE TIME), but apparently my blog and/or the internet hates me.  To all of you who have told me in the last several days that you have troubles loading my site?  You are NOT ALONE.  I’ve started having issues too, not just in IE (who I pretty much expect that sort of thing from) but from Firefox too.

I’m working with my host’s support system on this but so far I’m just waiting to see if it’s something on their end or if it’s something that I can fix on my end.  I don’t think it’s the design I’m using because I have some other sites that are having similar loading problems and they use different designs.  Plus, I can’t seem to upload anything via FTP.  I’m a little concerned that it’s my LAPTOP (at least for some of the problems), but am remaining cautiously optimistic that it is NOT.

So hopefully, any and all issues will be fixed soon.  Because I may just have an aneurysm if this keeps up much longer.

In other news, Evie has suddenly decided she doesn’t remember how to nurse when laying down next to me in bed.  Last night, I could nurse her while sitting up just fine, but if I tried to get her to latch on while laying down?  FORGET IT.  Now, I could sit up and once she got established and happy I could then maneuver her down onto the bed and finish up laying down.  But you know how it is about 3 o’clock in the morning.  You don’t want to sit up.  You want to remain laying down.  Even better if you could remain asleep but obviously that ain’t happening.  GAH.  So I’m hoping this is a little phase or something and that she “remembers” how to nurse laying down soon.

So that’s about it from me this Saturday so far.  A blog that is giving me gray hairs and a baby that is giving me wrinkles and I swear, between the two I’m going to look fifty-five before the weekend is over.
