Desktop Showcase

by Marilyn on April 7, 2008

So I stole this from her who in turn stole it from HER and now here we are… the place stolen meme’s go to die.  And while I’m fairly sure I’ve done a meme just like this already once before a) I’m far too lazy to look it up and b) I don’t really care because I want to do it again.  And because I’m deluding myself into thinking that you all really want to know what my computer desktop looks like. You do, don’t you?

Instructions:

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by:

[1] Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).

[2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V).

[3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it. (IMO that takes away from the integrity of the meme… I want to see the desktop as is).

B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you feel like doing it. Tell us why you decided to choose this picture.

C. Tag your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.

Yeah, except that I don’t tag.  Which is why meme’s die here. So without further ado, here is my desktop.  Click on it to make it show up all big n’ stuff so you can see all nifty little icons and whatnot.

I showed you mine, now you show me yours.

A little bit of everything

by Marilyn on April 7, 2008

I am feeling especially exhausted at the moment.  I had Kile take Evie close to 4am last night, give her a bottle of pumped milk, because she was being special about nursing AGAIN and I was exhausted and it was about the bazillionth time I’d fed her last night.   Still, even with that “break”, I’m a mere shadow this morning.  This has been building up over the last week or two.  You definitely get more sleep nursing in bed, however, you don’t get contiguous sleep and I find I miss contiguous sleep.   But maybe asking for it is asking for too much and I should just be happy what what I am getting, right?  Gah.  Zzzz….

Is anyone still having troubles getting my blog to load?  I guess if you are, then you wouldn’t be even seeing this post, though.  Unless you’re reading in a feed reader.  I’m working on a new design.  I’m not sure it will solve the issue, but it can’t hurt.  And perhaps it’ll at least load faster.  Though I think a lot of my loading issues have to do with various scripts and plugins and whatnot.  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I am currently running about a bazillion plugins.

In related news, I am now running WordPress 2.5.  So far, so good.  It turns out it was much less of a hair-raising upgrade than 2.3 was last year so that’s good news.  It has some nice features, though it is an adjustment.   Hey, as long as my flickr photo gallery plugin works, I’m happy.  I don’t think I could live without that little gem.

***

I have to pee something awful.  Alas, I have a baby cozied up on my chest (what else is new?).  This is quite the dilemma.

***

I feel amazingly cut-off from the world.  Leaving the house has been incredibly vital.  Going to church, believe it or not, has been a saving grace.  I’m inexplicably excited that I have MOPS this week.  People to talk to!  Other than my kids or Kile! (Nothing against you, Kile.  But variety IS the spice of life.)  I guess having a baby is a very isolating occasion.  I hear stories of people who are descended upon by friends and family and half the time these people wish they would just be left alone.  I pretty much don’t get it because I would LOVE to have people here to visit and talk to and show off the baby to and instead… the crickets chirp.

I guess people have other things to do than hang out with me.  Whatever.  I’m getting over it.

***

My tummy hurts.  Do I need to take a Motrin?  Or is this related to the fact that I haven’t pooped in like a week? (is that TMI?  Maybe this is why no one visits me…)

***

Have totally fallen off the BB9 wagon.  Just too hard to keep up with after Evie was born.  I washed a few eps last week and was scared.  Natalie makes me want to claw my eyes out.  Since James is all but evicted at this point (wait, is that a spoiler?), what’s the point of watching anymore?  Meh.

However, am still watching “John Adams”.  David Morse as George Washington still freaks me out.  Awesome series and next week looks to be even awesomer.  I’m finding it really interesting to look at our nation’s founding fathers are human beings with flaws and eccentricities.  As I said to Kile last night, Jefferson is kind of a wet-blanket half the time.  And John Adams is kind of a horrible father.  And George Washington?  A little insecure about his legacy.  Can you imagine?

***

I’m going to attempt to finish my lunch of leftover spaghetti (is there anything harder to eat with one hand than spaghetti?) and then I think the princess and I will take a nap.  Of course, by then she’ll be wide awake.
