is it possible that she loves me even more than I love her? Of course, being a newborn, she probably has a very limited perspective on what love is. Love to her is probably closely entangled with need. She needs to be fed, clothed, cleaned and kept warm and secure. And I think she recognizes that I am the primary giver of those things that she needs most. Even moreso than her father, grandparents, siblings, etc. She seems at her most comfortable when she’s cradled in my arms, when she’s being fed from my body.
When I watch her cuddle into my chest and let out a soft sigh of contentment, then I think, “Wow. She loves me.” In her own way, I know that’s true.
Which isn’t to say that I’m not entirely enamored of her. She is such a blessing. And when I step back and look at my entire family together, well, that’s when I’m bowled over. I still think to myself, “How did I get here?” It’s a miracle, is what it is. My cup indeed runneth over.

Just lovely - the pictures, the words, the emotions. Despite the fact that my baby still doesn’t sleep, ever, every time I read one of your posts, it makes me want another one - right now!
Motherhood is totally irrational.
