We’re making it… so far

by Marilyn on April 15, 2008

So the first day wasn’t SO bad.  The worst of it was when I was nursing Evie and Liam decided he’d had enough of his pack n’ play and climbed out of it by himself.  Which wouldn’t have been so bad, except the gate blocking off the kitchen wasn’t up and letting Liam lose in the kitchen is just not negotiable these days.  So I had to hop up (still nursing Evie), grab him so he didn’t break his neck climbing out of the pack n’ play and pull the gate across to contain the monster.  Whew!  And actually, when it’s all said and done, Pup (aka Holly, aka Poptart, aka PAIN IN THE ASS) was more trouble than either of the kids.  I may end up kick-punting that dog over the back fence (what’s left of it anyhow, after all these winds) after all.

But we made it through the day.  Evie was back on an “all nursing, all the time” schedule so last night was… interesting.  This is assuming your definition of “interesting” includes “lack of sleep”.  I was enjoying my coffee quite a bit this morning.  That is, until Harry kicked over my cup and spilled it everywhere.  *weep*

We’re on Day Two of Two Under Two and so far… it’s been only about 40 minutes since Harry left me alone with the houseapes so I can’t really say.  The good news is it’s only two hours until lunchtime and if I can make it to lunchtime, I can probably make it through the rest of the day too.

I guess I should get back to my thrilling schedule of nursing and chasing wild toddlers.  So I’ll just leave you with these pictures from the weekend.  I cannot stop taking pictures of this child.  She is just so darned edible.

Girl in the bouncer
She sat in her bouncer for about 10 minutes this weekend.  I call that progress.

Booties
These little booties are the most adorable things I’ve ever seen in my whole life.

Passed out
This makes me want to find a sunbeam to nap in.

More sleeping on papa's chest
Is this too sweet or what?

Sleeping. In her BASSINET!
She slept in her bassinet yesterday for like THIRTY MINUTES.  That’s a miracle, yo.

Progress at last! And for the record, on their stomachs is the only way all of my kids would sleep for any decent length of time at this point. It took me a while with a couple of them to realize that they preferred something under their face and stomach in order to sleep any length of time. (hence the sleeping on Mama all of the time) Good luck with the rest of the day. Thank God for naptimes!

You know, I’m still trying to figure out how to handle life with just one toddler, and I’ve said it a million times: you moms with multiple children AMAZE me. You are doing an awesome job, and I am in awe. Seriously.

And that is one gorgeous little girl.

Matthew wouldn’t sleep any other way, so I let him sleep on his stomach. Something I will regret for the rest of time. I will never know how much it actually played into what happened with him but I’ll never get over the tongue lashing from the ME and I have paid and paid for the decision over the years. I don’t know what else we would have done, though. He was only sleeping for 10 minute stretches every other way we placed him.

Oh my gosh! Those pictures make me looonnnggg for another one. She is so adorable. Why does it have to pass so fast? Of course, you may not feel like it’s passing so fast with 2 under 2! LOL! Good luck getting through these early days! I hope Evie decides she likes to be put down somewhere soon! I never used one, but would a sling help? I used to put my first daughter in the Snugglie a lot at the beginning, and slings seem a bit easier. Of course it still makes it really hard to get anything done.
