I don’t have a lot of time today. It’s been a crazy day around here and today ain’t over yet. But I am a compulsive sort and I can’t just NOT post because that would be WRONG. (It’s the little calendar I have in my sidebar, if all the days aren’t “linked” by the end of the month, then I start to twitch.) But I have to say something because even though I am busy, it doesn’t mean that I don’t have things to talk about. So here is what is on my mind today:
- Evie had her one month appointment this morning! I cannot believe it, she weighed in at 8lbs 7oz, which is almost two pounds exactly heavier than her birth weight. And 2lbs 3oz heavier than she was at her first pediatrician appointment three days after we came home. I don’t know why I’m surprised, the girl eats ALL THE TIME. And now I have proof. She also put on two inches in length and comes in at 21inches now. Go Evie, go! At this rate, she might just be rivaling her big brother who closely resembled the offspring of the Michelin Man at his six month birthday.
- I honestly do not know what to do with Harry. He consistently wets his pants and even has “number 2″ accidents on a more regular than I would like basis. I got a call from the school counselor this morning, to talk about it and set up a plan to have an extra store of clothes on hand at the school for days when it is particularly bad. Then I got another call about an hour or two later from the nurse saying I needed to bring a change of clothes right away. Of course, Liam is upstairs napping and considering that he didn’t fall asleep until about 11pm last night and was up at 6 this morning, he needs his nap. I was panicked until I found out my parents are coming out to the house as we speak so they can watch the wee ones while I run clothes to the school. All this aside, I’m really worried about him socially. According the counselor, he gets picked on quite a bit about this (which is pretty much news to me) and I’m feeling like the worst mother alive right now. I’ve been so busy with babies that I just haven’t had much time to devote to this issue with him. GAAAAHHHH.
- I got my starter pack of gDiapers that I won from the giveaway on Isabel’s blog last week! And you know? They are SO COOL. I have yet to try one because the size small starts at 8lbs and I wasn’t sure if Evie would fit them properly yet (Of course, I now know that she will!). I want to take a picture of them because they are very cute. Alas, I haven’t had a chance to yet. I find it interesting that I’m so excited about using these. Shoot, 8 years ago when my oldest was an infant the thought of using cloth diapers was just laughable. That’s what masochistic women did, was the way I thought about it. I just don’t like doing laundry that much. But now? Now I’m seriously considering it. There’s several factors here… the environmental factor is a big one, I’ll admit. Now that I have two in diapers it really puts into perspective just HOW MANY diapers we really use and it makes the impact on the landfills all that much more real to me. The other factor is potty training. I’m a firm believer that it’ll be easier to potty train a child who has worn cloth diapers than one who has not. Trust me, all the issues that we’ve had with Harry have definitely made me think about this. And I’d like to make potty training as easy as possible.
- My mom is freakishly weird about the weather. We have a storm forecast for tomorrow and she’s scared to death this means they’ll need to drive in snow when going over the mountain on Wednesday. Can you believe she grew up in the midwest? Boggles my mind. California has made her soft. I’ve tried explaining that you can’t always trust the forecasts around here because they are nothing but DOOM and GLOOM and the reality is usually less than what they like to predict. But you can’t tell her that. She’ll have an anuerism anyhow, thank you very much. Obviously, I have not inherited my love of snow from her. Ya think?
Okay, it has taken me like THREE HOURS to type this all out. This should tell you about how my day has gone.
edited to add: OMG, this never published. I could swear I published it… but I guess I didn’t and so that means I MISSED A DAY. This is a giant problem for me. I may never forgive myself.
