You Need to Read - May 17

Posted on May 17th, 2008

It’s really a rather short list this week.  I’m sorry for that.  This was INSANE, though I don’t think I could give you one single reason for why it was so insane.  It just was.  Because of the insanity, one of the things that suffered was my reading of blog posts.  And I found that whenever I actually had time to read blog posts, I was hurrying and not really reading them and therefore, not noticing if they were YNTR material.  Oops.  My bad.  Even now, I’m still trying to catch up.  But I felt I should get my list of awesome posts out now anyhow, or else it might never happen as we have a busy afternoon/evening/night ahead of us.  Post now, while the posting is good!  So without further ado…

  • your life can change in an instant.. from simple things.  Wow.  Just… wow.  I wondered why we hadn’t been hearing from her.  Moving is a good excuse.  A death in the family is an even “better” one (I hate to consider any sort of death as being “better”, don’t you?).  Many sympathies for her and her family.
  • Shit that shouldn’t be published, part whatever from The Bloggess.   Everything this gal writes is gold.  COMEDY GOLD.  And no, I hadn’t wondered this until she posted this.  Also of note: her post about the sk-rt/kirtsy/Skirt! mag controversy.  Definitely check it out.
  • Arrived. from Flotsam.  I’ve been waiting to finally be able to highlight this post.  The post talking about the first days at home with Simone.  Many congrats to the Flotsam family.  And she is RIGHT ON about the Milk Lady bit because boy, do I know how she feels!
  • Night of the Meatloaf from amalah . com.  I feel I could have, word for word, written this post.  Shoot, maybe I have.   Once again, Amy has shown me that we really are all in the same boat, that we aren’t alone and that feeling these things is completely normal.  Amen, for that.
  • An Idea No Longer in Its Baby Stages: My Story of… from Surrender, Dorothy.  I got tears in my eyes, reading this story.  It is so inspiring to hear her account of how she achieved her dream.  I will definitely be getting this book, one way or another.  I am so excited for her and for everyone else involved.  This is HUGE guys, this is AWESOME.
  • This is the Life I’ve Chosen. from Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  A lot of times, what Ree shares with us is very lighthearted and funny and simple.  That’s why we love her, after all.  This post let us see inside her soul a little bit and I dare say I love her even more for that.  Thanks for the honesty.

So there you have it.  Like I said, it’s a short list.  And I’m sure I missed out on a lot of other fabulous posts this week.  You know what could help prevent that?  Telling me if you come across a post that you think I need to put up on the list!  Either leave a comment here or drop me a line.  I’ll love you forever if you do.  In the meantime, enjoy your weekends.  I certainly plan to!
