I remember when I was little, as soon as it was “back to school” time, I started looking ahead towards that season to end all seasons: Christmastime.  We had a Toys R Us where I lived, but I rarely got to step foot in the store.  We didn’t go to the mall as a family all that often either.  No, besides after school cartoons, my window into the world of toys was through the Service Merchandise catalog.  We had a showroom in town but I remember mostly just poring through the pages of the catalog.  I would often play a game where I would turn the page and then have to pick out what I would have wanted off that page the most (a la a vintage Wheel of Fortune shopping spree).  And then the TOY SECTION.  Oh my heavenly stars.  Pages upon pages of toys, toys, toys.  Sometimes (most times) I found myself thinking the boys’ toys were so much cooler than the girls’ toys.  When I would draw up my yearly Christmas List, I would often heavily refer to the Service Merchandise catalog, often going so far as to dog ear pages, underline items, writing item numbers and reference page numbers.

Ah, those were the days.

But I still do this, to some extent.  I still troll the internet for things I would like and send not-so-subtle link-hints to my significant other.  It’s fun to look through catalogs and internet stores and pick out what you’d like to have… “what if”…

So what’s on my wishlist right now?  Oooh, here’s the fun part!

Woah.  I totally lost track of time.  I got sucked into the bowels of Etsy and next thing I know it’s four hours later (okay, I exaggerate, but still).  I could make this list ALL DAY LONG.  It’s so FUN to make a wishlist, isn’t it?  I’ve had some good fortune lately, what with the free iPhone and all, but I wouldn’t know what to do if I all the sudden had everything I really wanted.  What would I have to wish for?

So tell me.  What do YOU wish for?  More importantly, is there anything I’m leaving off my list?

That masseuse sounds good. A maid sounds better.

I want all of my walls re-painted and new counter tops. If I’m allowed to be selfish, I’d also like all new flooring, new light fixtures and faucets, new blinds, and central air.

Hmm.. I wish I had someone I liked and trusted very much on hand for 4 hours just 2 days a month to play with the kids so I can do stuff I WANT to do. I had finally found it until she decided to go back to work. :(

I’d like to be able to try a bunch of different cloth dipes for the upcoming baby and buy a ’stash.’

I’d like a patio and some trees in the backyard.

I’d like a lifetime of aquarium service so all I have to do is feed them and watch them swim.

I’d like shelves in my closet for storing my crafts, etc..

I might even get the last one there. I’ve been asking hubby for that for a while and I think he just might do it!

Are you familiar with kaboodle.com? I love it…you can make a universal wish list there and add stuff from anywhere on the web. You can create any kind of list your heart desires…it make me happy!

Once I became an adult, I’ve actually found the holidays to be a lot less fun than they used to be. It doesn’t feel special anymore since it all comes from the same bank account and I have to tell my husband specifically what I want. Bah humbug.

I am looking forward to Christmas morning this year with Graham since he’ll be two. Last year he didn’t really care what was what and seemed a bit confused by the whole “presents” thing.
