So I’ve made no mystery of the fact that Charter Cable has been a sore in my side for the last week or two.  Probably longer than that, but if we want to be specific, it’s only been the last week that I’ve really been annoyed with them.

My irritation reached a fever peak on Tuesday night after the box went haywire JUST as the debate got underway.  Why did it go haywire, you ask?  It’s overheating.  AGAIN.  We’re constantly having to put ice packs on it to keep it cool.  And now, when it overheats, the picture goes static-y.  Case in point:

Stupid Static

See that?  That was ABC.  As in a local station.  Now, while we haven’t been able to watch any channel above about 70 lately (including Noggin and HBO which is just WRONG), generally we could count on stations such as CNN, MSNBC, TLC, Nickelodeon, FX, etc and so forth.  But nope.  Starting Tuesday night, those channels were on the block.  And during the debate, we couldn’t get them at all.  All we could get was a static-filled ABC.  And it sounded like the candidates were trying to talk over a hurricane, such was the noise.

So… Kile called Charter again and made it plain that it appears the problem is the cable box itself.  The TV’s upstairs get just expanded basic cable, no box, and we haven’t had a single problem with them.  Nope, just this TV and this box.  So the lady agreed to replace our box.  We could have picked another MOXI box (NO THANK YOU!) or a regular DVR box.  I think you know what we picked.

So today, between 1 and 3pm, someone is going to come and fix my television.  HALLELUJAH!  And a choir of angels did sing unto the lord!

Friggin’ Charter.

Yeah well, we didn’t get any DVR options because (1) Paul picked our package and assumed that the on-demand options would be the same as Comcast and (2) we’re trying to save as many pennies as possible (who isn’t?). So, I still hate Chater because their on-demand doesn’t really have anything in it that I would demand to see. So, BOO!!! to Charter. And the sad thing is, we can’t switch companies because we’re on base. And Charter is what you get if you’re on base. So, Double Boo!!!
But, Marilyn, I am sorry that your TV viewing hasn’t been prime.

Maybe your TV just wanted to spare you a dull debate? Now if it had gone off during the new episode on NCIS I could see getting upset.

I will trade you your cable box for mine. About 2 weeks ago, it became possessed and decided of it’s own free will not to record 4 shows one night. (Now, all evening long, the box was locked because it was “recording” 2 shows at the same time. We turned that one in (God help me, all the shows that I lost, boo hoo) and got a second one. Today, while watching Bones on the DVR this afternoon, it cut off and informed me that my box was not authorized. I called Comcast and after a second phone call, discovered that when my husband returned the first box and got the second, they never logged the second one out and had reported it as a missing box. Needless to say, once again, I had to get another new DVR, and once again, lost all of my shows. God help me, if anything else goes wrong, I may lose my ever-loving mind. I can’t take it this time of year, when all of the shows are on, and I keep missing them.
