I've been reading your blog for about a month now and I laugh hysterically because you and I are so much alike! I grew up in Fallon (reside in Maine now, burrrrrrr!) and I have no clue how I found you in Reno but I really really enjoy what you have to say!

On this issue, in Maine everyone heats with OIL! Crazy, right? Yeah, so they've all had their heat on for two months. Ours clicked on last week when it finally hit single digits. I'm super cheap and I like to bake so it works out in the end :o)

I hear what you mean about sleeping with the heat on too! Ridiculous! How are you supposed to enjoy fluffy down comforters and flannel if it's 65 degrees in your bedroom. The answer to that is... you can't.

Marilyn, I knew you didn't like hot. I did. But your house? That's WAY too cold!! We keep our heater at 71, and we would probably have it higher, except with a 2 story house, the upstairs gets too warm. I HATE to wear layers of clothes. Or thick clothes. Which is why I HATE HATE HATE winter as much as you hate hot summer time. You keep your house colder than my parents did when I was growing up! And that's saying something.

Um, I would die at your house. We keep the thermostat at 71 degrees when it's reasonably nice out, and at 72 degrees when it's colder than -10 Celsius. And that's cold. My mom keeps her place at 74 degrees, but I think that's a little too warm.

I don't need to be able to wear tanktops and shorts around the house, but I do want to go barefoot. And I don't want to have to wear more than a tanktop and underwear to bed (otherwise I get tangled up in my PJ's and can't sleep). So I do tend to put a couple extra blankets on the bed and survive that way.

I find it funny how it can feel warm in the house at 72 degrees in the summer, but on certain days 72 degrees in the winter seems downright frigid!

OMG! I'm making my husband read this. He complains about me keeping our thermostat set to 67 degrees day and night all winter long. If he reads 58 or 62 degrees he should be thankful I don't do that!

Here ya go http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm
62F=16C    58F = 14C    30F=-1C   Sounds dang cold either way.  Brrrrrr!!!!!

I like a warm house. And I don't like to wear clothes to bed (TMI?). But I *do* have my fuzzy warm man to snuggle up against. :)
Marilyn you would totally love my scary car. The heater doesn't work. You'll really enjoy those frozen fingers and Rudolph nose you get after driving 45 minutes each way to work. My teeth are still chattering and it's almost noon!

I wish I knew what those temperatures were in Celsius. Or that I wasn't too lazy to find a conversion site and type them in...

NOT CRAZY at all.

My goal is to NOT turn my heat on this winter unless absolutely necessary. (although, I was freezing after I got out of the shower this morning, so I ran it for about 20 minutes).

I like to be cold when I sleep. And, I've got the whole hot flash thing going, so I sleep with a tower fan on, pointed at my feet. If I'm hot, I just stick my feet out and the fan cools my whole body down. But, when I'm not menopausal, I wear a long nightgown (totally sexy!) to bed or flannel jams. And, I have fluffy down comforter and flannel sheets.
