I love to do picture posts.  Depending on the pictures, they’re such a neat look at a particular moment in time and nothing brings memories to life quite like a picture does.

It was a productive weekend around here.  Kile got rid of a lot of stuff in the garage that was just plauging us and taking up space and being generally annoying.  As he was going through some things, he found a couple of pictures laying loose (I guess?) and passed them off to me.  Since we also got a scanner up and going for our laptops, I went ahead and scanned the pictures.  Because you can’t have enough olde thyme photos, am I right?

Big WheelCheck this one out, for instance.  That’s my old big wheel!  And that’s me!  And dang, my mom couldn’t take a centered photo to save her life, could she?

Christmas in the 70'sThis was at Christmastime (notice the red Santa-ish craft to the right).  But WHY is my face so gray?  WTF? Also: lovin’ the record player way in the background there.

Girl ScoutsWho wasn’t in Girl Scouts back in the 80s?  (Well, I guess you weren’t if you were a guy)  Dig the “fire” happening to the left there.  And my Dad’s old Fiat in the driveway.

Christmas? at homeI think this was Christmas and it was taken at my parent’s house and I’m guessing Harry is three here.  And I?  Look like CRAP.  WTF?? No, seriously.  WTF??  I’m gonna blame it on the thyroid that we didn’t know about at the time.

Whew.  I’m all beat from all that time-traveling.  That’s exhausting stuff.  Let’s bring it back to the Present Day, shall we?

Towering TerrorAHHH!  It’s Attack of the 10 Foot Liam!  And.. he’s BLURRY!  (Also: Cute.)

Catchin' a few z'sCan I eat her?  Please?

Birthday Watch!Mah new watch!  Isn’t it purty?  Admit it, you’re totally jealous.  I’m really digging the dark brown.  It literally goes with EVERYTHING.

Beginning KnitterI’m knitting!  I can knit!  So far, all I seem to be able to make is this long, shapeless… thing.  But you know.  I’m sure it’ll be fabulous (please don’t notice my dropped stitches, it makes me self-conscious).

Ahh, now I can continue (conclude) my day with the satisfied knowledge that I’ve posted a ton of pictures that have little to do with anything. *happy sigh*

Like a lot of good ideas, this one started over at Schmutzie’s place.  The idea here is to embrace the good things in our life, especially when we’re feeling rather grinchy.  Since my grinchy feelings are taking more of a front-seat these days, I think I could use this excersize.  So what do you do?  You post daily, for 365 days (that’s a whole year, yo), a list of five things (more or less, but hopefully more) that have graced your life.

While it would be more poetic to start such a project on New Years Day, I’m not going to put it off because that would raise the liklihood that I will a) forget to do it altogether and b) not be able to feel the benefit of such a project during the Christmas season, when grace and simple joy are all too easy to put aside and forget.  So without further ado… here goes!

  1. My super-fabulous mother in law.
  2. That even though I forgot “True Blood” was on last night (GAH!), it was rebroadcasting at 11pm so I was able to DVR it.  We’ll watch it tonight (don’t spoil me!).
  3. Robert Pattinson.  *wipes drool off chin*
  4. My uber-awesome family that is now complete in more ways than I could ever have imagined.
  5. That in this trying economy, my husband still has a relatively stable job.  Whew!
What is gracing your life today?
